I think that I need to fire our head custodian. I hate firing people but when you walk the campus and are unable to identify a single completed project begun over the past three months....it's time. :(

Firings aren't good, I must admit.

I'm sure that you're a fair guy, Rev, but at the same time, I'm hardwired to empathize with labor as well.  It's in my DNA.

chisag is a union guy.  Maybe he understands where I'm coming from.

Along with other things, I used to represent  in grievance procedures members getting fired..

It wasn't that hard when the contractual language was on our side.  I never lost one of those.

Sometimes, though, we didn't have a leg to stand on. My member was clearly not living up to OUR side of the contract

by doing his or her job with at least some modicum of effort.

Now, far away from the fray, I can freely admit it.

I liked winning those the most.

For a union rep, as with a defense attorney, it's not about right and wrong.

It's about winning. That's why the members paid their dues.

And when you win the really tough ones, it stokes your ego.

Truth is, I never had this competitive drive on the golf course.

I did in the boxing ring when I was a frisky colt, but never on the golf course.

But it also explains a lot of things.

Guys like me don't necessarily blend well with a country club membership at large.

I'm afraid that the Dukes will be the only ones, if any at all, to miss me!

Edit: I just noticed that this is in response to a two year old post.

I don't know how I happened on the original post, but when I did, I thought that it was new.

I hope that custodian found another job.

Playing the other day I stepped in a hole and did something to my right leg. Not broken or sprained - pulled ligament? Anyway a bit sore so I've been favoring it and it is getting better every day. Playing on Sunday so hope it's 100% by then.

Update it was feeling better today so I ran out and played 18 by myself. As reported in the ' How did you play' thread, I ended up with a 90 [emoji106]

Today can go to hell. Look a few posts back for the start of my day and it was so busy at work I feel like I needed a cup to keep my groin from getting kicked in more. Shootings during the day and none stop. After hitting the deer I should have just turned around and went home to go back to sleep.

As I posted in “How’d you play”, I’ve had it with my public course. The range is never open after ANY rain, I’m talking they don’t open it for 2-3 days after! Then, our fairways are 21 yards wide because those that mow haven’t been shown how to, and therefore, clip sprinkler heads. So, “we can’t widen the fairways because the mowers clip the sprinklers.” Seriously?! Is this the ONLY freaking course in the UNIVERSE that clips sprinkler heads?!

Next, the rough is 5 inches deep because, you guessed it, “It rained the other day.”

Uggggggh!!!!!

Not only are my “fairway” stats way off because I play US Open Course conditions, but my GIR is ALSO low for the SAME EXACT reason.

Uggggggggh!!!

Not another public course for THIRTY MILES!!!

So this has been an expensive week. Between hitting the deer and needing to buy a new grille for that my parents had their washer die on them. I still live at home so in lieu of rent I do renovations to their house and do things that are needed. So I told them pick the washer you want and order it and I will pay them back. Nearly 800 bucks later we will have a washer again. 1200 bucks spent in one weekend there goes the money I had saved for new tires but gotta have priorities.

That's generous of you to do that for your parents - just don't wait too long for new tires please.

Hi guys,

If you are ever stuck in traffic as a result of a traffic accident, please just drive and focus on the road.

I can’t tell you how many people rubberneck, take photos and slow down just to see a wreck.

If you’re wondering what 99% of all car accidents look like pull up your web browser and type in car accident.

As part of our normal pre winter check list of stuff to do we had a guy come out to clean (wood burning) fireplace/chimney. In addition to the normal cleaning that we've done in the past this guy had a camera to scope the flue. And as you can imagine he found several bricks that had big voids in them.  So not only doesn't my wife get to have the winter fires that she loves, we're going to have to take care of this. New flue would be 8-10K. We're thinking a gas insert will probably be a lot less. Either way this is unexpected and a pretty big expense on top of my son's wedding coming up next month., a brand new set of tires on my wife's car and a new set on my car as well. 😡😡

No not really. Mostly undesirable locations at least for me. I hate big cities and that’s pretty much what is left.

Some of you will hate me for posting this, but it has to be said. I opted to play 9 holes after work today and it is still 90 degrees at 5:45 pm. I must've lost 5-10 pounds in water weight. Man, we can't seem to get a break from summer here. We had three days of dry and cooler weather after Michael ripped this place to shreds, and now we're back to summer.

Yeah, I should stop complaining, because some of you are already dealing with snow and freezing temps. But man, I am so sick of walking off the golf course soaking wet and wearing a rain glove and not because it's raining out.

Played the back 9 late this afternoon - it was 52, partly cloudy and wind blowing like stink off of Lake Erie - 25+. Not very comfortable either. Guess there's no pleasing us.

Not at all, glad to see you’re playing. Conversely, I’m glad it’s 45 and the leaves are changing. Time to hibernate until masters week.

An excerpt from an email from our Super this morning. [emoji35]

Tomorrow and Monday morning we have a chance for a frost delay. On these borderline mornings for frost we can’t totally make a call until sunrise which is currently well after 7:00 now.

Had my irons and hybrid re-shafted at Golf Galaxy and went to pick them up. Shafts look great, but they "forgot" to trim the lengths and all the irons are missing their ferrules…![emoji37]Fortunately they trimmed the shafts before I left with them, but none of us noticed the lack of parts...I only noticed their absence when I began to install the grips late last night...[emoji31]Now off on another trip to have them done right...
https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=marvin+martian+delays&&view=detail&mid=CD141102B69E631AC5ECCD141102B69E631AC5EC&&FORM=VRDGAR
They're probably one of the worst places to get anything done right, IMHO. Had my grips redone and most of them came out crooked.
