Credit card number got stolen. Luckily AMEX was cool when I called them and explained there was no way I could be getting lunch while simultaneously getting my hair cut. They cancelled the charges (both of them) and they're issuing me a new one. Weird that the people who stole my car would make 2 transactions at the same restaurant. Either way, I'm glad I setup Google Pay to alert me every time a charge is made on either one of my CCs. Contemplating now buying a new driver and explaining to SWMBO that it was a fraudulent charge

Key west is a great duty station if you like to fish. Do they have a course on base? The muni is pretty well maintained but crowded given its the only course for 60 miles. Next closest is in Marathon (not worth the trip and may be even washed away after this year's hurricane.)

No course on base. Just the muni. I really don’t fish much anymore, but 85 in November sounds absolutely wonderful.

Probably only be wherever I end up for a year or 2 at most. The next one after that will put me near retirement....

Further to my rant thread, here are pics of the carnage. I'm going to ring my insurance company because it damaged the fence and the house "may" have gotten it as well. FYI, there were 4 conifers taken down by the tree as well.

That's a shame - mature trees are always tough to lose - hope you have minimal or no damage when the tree is removed.. Was this from a recent storm? At the western end of the state we had gale force winds yesterday - lots of leaves down along with small branches but fortunately our trees are intact.

Thanks Tony. I personally am not going to miss the tree, in fact, it's twin will be removed in the spring as they're Bradford pears and everything about them is bad...they don't drop the leaves until January, they grow fast so they grow weak and they drop limbs and fall over when they get this big.

We had major wind here yesterday and that's what took it out.

That sucks. We've had two huge trees fall in the woods behind our house, both times coming within inches of crushing our shed. Nothing a day outside with a chainsaw can't resolve, but a PITA nonetheless.

Nifty, this has been mentioned several times, you've made your point clear despite our repeated reminders of our guidelines and moral codes about politics.  To play the he said game isn't acceptable.

Wait, What!  He was apologizing to me in his  own way when he said "I regret responding now." and I graciously said, "Time to move on and agree to disagree."    Nothing wrong at all with those two statements.

Frankly I am surprised by this talk down and since I am going through a burnout phase with golf right now, I see no better time to say later gator.   It's a great place here, you all do a great job and no doubt it's a very hard one at times and I wish nothing but the best for all of you! Honestly - I think we should just delete the entire rant thread.  It's negativity on this site that we just don't need.

It's something I've wondered as well.   And I'm sure we'll take it up as a staff group and discuss.    But its main intention was just a place to come vent and blow off some frustration, but as we see that often can lead down a dark rabbit hole. 

in the meantime, we'll just ask everyone to remember the original intent of the thread.

...the idea of non-golf threads on a golf forum is a little perplexing to me, but I also understand how folks want to engage with each other on a personal level and share a part of their lives that isn't golf related. Certainly a tricky balance.

I do agree with @jlukes in regards to the rant thread though.... not sure how much good it is serving.

I use the rant section for when I suck at golf. Maybe change it to strictly golf rants

I think the rant thread can be a good place to get advice and support from the community when things aren't going your way or you need perspective on things that because of the situation you're in you can't find right now. It is disappointing however to see where the turn can be made down to some dark spots in our minds. 

So, how to change it? Well, I agree with potentially wiping this thread from the board, but with it, a MOD or STAFF member should create a new one and in post #1 lay down the law for what's good in the thread including no-go's, potential punishment for those who flirt with the line, and just general cool mod stuff that us plebs don't have access to. It would serve as a solid reminder for the guidelines the forum exists on and sets the boundaries in this thread to potentially curb moving down the weird and dark holes.

Or, as Charli suggests, perhaps moving it to the 19th Hole for golf specific rants may be ok as well. Those are my .02

I'm definitely interested in hearing these  thoughts regarding the thread.  By all means if you have a thought, let us know what your suggestion is or would be.  I kinda like Berg's idea above.
