Seems like anytime they open the hood or work on electrical/electronics it's several hundred dollars. I had the diver side collision sensor go out it was going to cost 900. The service manager said why not change the other side while they're at it ( it was working) for total of 1800. Didn't do it and never went back to that dealership again. sixcat
The air bag sensor warning light came on in my previous car a few years ago. The mechanic we had been going to for years said the sensor would cost $600 to replace but the car had two and they were required to be replaced as a pair. So, total cost of $1200. I took the car to another garage on a recommendation of a coworker who felt my longtime mechanic had been deceitful with him in previous visits. The second mechanic changed a fuse under the steering wheel at a cost of $12. The warning light never came back on at any point over the remaining 3 years I owned the car. The moral of the story for me was, question everything and get a second opinion. TSauer, cksurfdude, Rickp and 1 other
Kenny B
I got a really good deal when I bought my 2014 hemi Dodge Charger. The dealer offered me a lifetime warranty except for routine replaceable items like tires, wipers, etc. Cost me $2700 which still made the deal cheaper than I could buy a car anywhere else. It's $100 deductible, but looking at all of the electronics I could see a repair bill being more than $2700!! I've already used it once. poprocksncoke, Rickp and cksurfdude 3 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
