Got Problems?

Went to Best Buy today and bought a HD Digital Antenna. Even though we live in a semi rural area I was able to access 25 channels. Took about 2 min to set up and the TV took a couple of min to access and set up the channels (automatically). Cost was less than one month's cable tv bill and of course that was only a one time cost. Unfortunately we won't get the golf channel and be able to watch the LPGA events but at least we'll get the Sunday PGA tours.

Every channel I get now is digital and we get 82 channels for 5 bucks a month and that includes the golf channel.

I use a flat antenna like the Leaf from Winegard. It's hooked to a Tablo DVR, which we watch through a Roku and all of our various mobile devices.

My local TV supplier switched everything to digital and they require a little box which you have to pay for no matter what if you buy the basic. The basic channels now are 82 channels and I forgot it's 3 bucks just for the little box and it is a little more for the basic itself so I think my grandmother pays 20 a month for all 82 channels. So my bad about saying it was just 5 bucks. And my basic channels include golf and BBC.

I'd agree with Rick - it does mean something, so OG don't be frustrated. I actually feel better today about it then when I served. At least in my neck of the woods there is a lot of respect for the military and vets. Every Memorial Day our club has a memorial service to honor our military and vets. It is a packed house for the event. Several times of the year; Memorial Day, Veterans Day, etc flags and wreaths are placed on graves of those that passed and were in the service. Several local chains give discounts to veterans and active military.

 

On the other hand when I was in the Navy (late 60's), I didn't want to leave the base because of the abuse (short haircut was a dead giveaway).

And as we all know it wasn't until recent memory that those who served in Vietnam were recognized.

 

 

 

Is there still some disrespect for the flag and our military, of course but I just consider those people ignorant and shallow thinkers.

OG - every able man in my family since WWI has served for this great Nation in almost all theaters. Listening to stories from my Grandfather's (WWII, Korean) and my uncle (Vietnam), dad (Cold War/1st Iraq) and cousin (multiple) only a person who has served will understand the brotherhood and unity we have came to know.... and sacrifices.

What the hell is wrong with people!!

 

We had ice all over the place this morning, lots of accidents, but it was worst in parking lots.   I almost went down twice on my way in and out of Panera.   But as I was pulling out of the parking lot passing the Walmart entrance,  I noticed a lady literally sprawled on the ground in the middle of the parking lot. This wasn't down some isolated isle, it was in the driveway that leads to all the isles, about 30 feet from the door.  By the time I drove up to her (I saw her from about 100 yards away) two cars drove literally right around her and kept going!!

 

I pulled to a stop about 30 feet from her (intentionally blocking traffic) so no other morons could get by.   Fortunately another woman walking out of Walmart stopped to help as well (as the lady wasn't the smallest person ever) and we managed to get her up and to the sidewalk safely.   She swore she was OK, but just couldn't' get herself up.   So she went on her way.

 

Oh and of course as I'm walking back to my car, people are honking at me....People Suck, the really do!!

To A LOT of us it does matter, and is appreciated.   I think I may know where your venting is coming from and I can't put myself in your shoes to have been there and served and feel the way you do.   But I do think I can understand why you feel this way.   Thanks for your service!

My friend, based on our discussions, it is clear that we have much in common, we are brothers.    I totally understand your perception and I am saddened that you have such, because no way should you.   Yes, during our times, us old vets surely did not seem to be appreciated.  My suggestion, do not let the actions or statements of others get you down, but rather take pride that you served this great nation.  That you knew freedom isn't free and you did your part.   No one, absolutely no one can take that pride from you.   No one absolutely no one can take that special and meaningful feeling from you when our flag is flown or our anthem played.
