cksurfdude 10,864
Hey All - Yeah the ads on GC may seem a little weird (and, yeah, Gary McCord may endorse anything to make a buck), but ..... on other forums and on Amazon this program seems to have gotten a lot of favorable reviews.... So... Has anyone tried it? They're running a Black Friday special on their website, valid through the weekend. Thanks! PlaidJacket 7,737
I haven't. But I've seen McCord on the GC hawking it. And you're right... he'll sell anything. I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade (umbrella unfurls) but golf instruction such as this are a dime a dozen on the web. Are they effective. Perhaps for some. Just for the record I'm not a complete hypocrite. I've bought stuff like this in the past. Live and learn. And, I've learned. Just not from these type guys. My suggestion is to find yourself a local instructor you like and can work with. He'll do you more good than any of these "incredible-magic" as seen on TV methods. 4 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour
BIG STU 10,354
Will agree Gary will do anything to make a buck. I did have a little interest in it mainly for the stretching involved. cksurfdude 10,864
Thanks guys, your comments certainly make sense. I've made some progress over this past season, but have not yet found a good instructor (who I can trust) in the area. Have one guy who has played competitively and coached me once but he's really tough to schedule a session with; travels a lot. But .. am still tempted to try it as a [emoji300] winter[emoji300] training regimen; it's also supposed to contain some sections on the mental game - which could only help me - even if the Tathata method is a bit "new age"ish... Mr_Theoo 3,360
I have a friend who did it. He went from seeing the same coach that I do to it. It hurt his game a little but I felt it was more growing pains if anything. I think the program has some good ideas but you would have to fully commit to the program which I think might be hard because you don't have a coach there to keep you on track 1 Quote Driver: Epic 10.5 set to 9.5 w/ Tour AD-DI 44.5 FW: F6 baffler set at 16º Hybrid: NONEIrons: 3i 2014 TP CB 4-PW 2011 TP MC w/ TT S400 Wedges: 52º 56º 60 º w/ KBS C-Taper XS Soft-stepped Putter: Sigma G Tyne 34 inches Gold dot

jonathonfrum 3
The ads are weird indeed, but that is the least of their problems. That dude and his fake-student actor/models look like they're constipated or something. Being in the video production biz, I find the whole setup kind of laughable, right down to the inappropriate use of an "epic motion-picture" music bed. I see this kind of thing all the time: over-hyped, high-end productions that actually fail because they're TOO slick and polished. More to consider: Go on Youtube and type in Tathata Golf, and you'll find a mind-bending number of videos (nearly all produced by Tathata Golf itself) with comments disabled on every single one of them. Can't say why, but something about the whole thing smacks of Scientology. It's like they've gone out of their way to monopolize the platform with their own self-serving content. You simply cannot find a critical review video anywhere on Youtube. Oh hell, I'll just it. Tathata Golf is creepy, as well as just plain dumb. It's Creepy-Dumb. I'll even invent a new word for it. It's Dreepy. I think I'll stick to lessons from my local PGA Professional -- someone local who is officially trained and able to speak with me directly without all the fake marketing weirdness. "The search is over. This is the way." What an ignorant thing to say. Is McCord even a member of the PGA? If a board-certified medical professional can lose his credentials for advocating homeopathic quackery, it seems like the PGA of America could -- and probably should -- do the same for opportunistic clowns like McCord when they shill for this kind of golf carnival crap. Sorry, I may have gone a bit overboard, and I know I'm only adding to the confusion. This irritation would quickly go away if I could just find an honest, critical review video somewhere.

TheLamaGunga 3
My issue with Tathata is as follows... 1. Nowhere in the marketing can I find any credentials for Bryan Hepler, other than he is a failed mini tour player. 2. He bills himself as a "Master Instructor" - is this a credential he made up and granted to himself? Does it come from some body such as the PGA of America? 3. He is doling out certifications like "Movement Specialist" - does he have degrees/certifications in Biomechanics, Kinesiology, Physical Training, etc? That people would buy his stuff without knowing these answers blows my mind. I've been "out of the loop" in the golf world for awhile, so he might be totally legit. If so - I will stand corrected.
Orange Hog 329
It seems like they really are trying to make this a P90X type of program. The difference for me is seeing the results and legit feedback across the internet and not just in their ads. I remember when P90X came out. You saw people posting their results all over YouTube and blogs along with lots of comments and reviews (some good, some not). When you don't see that with Tathata it makes me nervous. I think I'd rather spend that money on a local PGA professional who I trust.

If they are discounting training and providing sponsor money - sounds like they bought the partnership. I will say the folks are really good at marketing. I'd be willing to bet McCord and Chamblee are investors; seems like for a golf school this organization has quite a lot of capital at their disposal.

Amizer95 3
Restarting an old thread as I just started the program, on day 4 of 60. 10 handicap golfer who started a few years ago in late 30's. Played all sports growing up but never golf until 4 years ago. Neadless to say I've got the bug. I've had a couple PGA lessons, but mostly self taught via YouTube, etc. Most recently following Tony luczak, who I like. I'll occasionally post feedback as I go through this . A lot of feedback I've seen in forums us negative, however most of those posters have not completed the program so I've taken that into account and am keeping an open mind. Given that it is a 60 day program with 40-50 hours of instruction, and it does not allow you to skip ahead, I imagine a lot if folks don't get far enough to give it a fair shake. Hope I can do that! Anyway, so far I enjoy it. Great stretching and body movements so far (I don't think you touch a club for a few weeks, and you never hit a ball during the training sessions). I've hit the range twice and hit the ball well. Maybe placebo affect? Hope not, we will see... Anyway, I will update weekly it as time permits if people are interested in hearing. Let me know..

hammer74 4
Tried it last year. Didnt improve so stopped using it. And then, saw an auto renew for $199 - when I called, they said it is a membership and that I had to pay and cannot cancel since it is a subsrciption. Shady practice if you ask me.
