Beautiful little girl!

I love dogs.

Always have.

I even forgave the police dog that bit me in the 1964 Hampton Beach Labor Day Eve riot.

I was already tear gassed and fire hosed by then so what's the difference?

I truly hope that he had a good life too.

The cop, on the other hand...

That's actually Ruby, who we lost at just 2 years old from brain cancer.  She suddenly went blind in one eye in late November 2015 and we lost her in Jan 2016... absolutely crushed my wife and I.  With a retirement soon following and relocation to Montana, we opted to be dog-less for the first time in our married life.  This past spring, after returning from Yuma, we are now being ruled by River.  He is 7-1/2 months old and had limited days on the water fishing - that will change next year.  I mostly fish 4 and 5 weight, 9 ft rods here in MT.

PS: Shout out, thanks to the OP for creating this thread.  Pets are so amazing and it's really fun seeing everyone's extended family.

For how many pheasants and ducks I shoot I should really pick up fly fishing and fly tying again.

Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Why not!! PA loaded with great trout streams. Bird Hunting season is too short and need something else to do outdoors.
Do the tying in January,February, March.

They're great dogs, for sure. After my wife lost her Golden, her kids decided they wanted the biggest, furriest dog they could think of .. which turned to Newfie .. but then when she and her younger son went to look at one, that idea turned into "No f...in way!" So we sorta almost had one :-)

Pictures from duck hunting the other day. Got colder than expected but still not cold enough to put a neoprene vest on the dog.

Seems like an awful lot of work and discomfort, Rick, when you could just go the Chinese restaurant.

If I tried to get my dog out on a day like that, she'd definitely show me her teeth.

I might have the wrong kind of dog.

My dogs get excited when I mention hunting. They love what they were bred to do and when I leave one home they actually get mad at me. I've have a dog avoid me for hours because I didn't take them.

No way, hunting dogs can’t wait to get out there. They KNEW and got excited when they were going in the field when they saw the way I was dressed.

That's great, Rick.

I never had a dog that wanted to work for a living.

All of them, without exception, seemed to think that the human family was staff.

In Fidel's (see avatar) last years, we'd go for a walk.

When he'd had enough, he'd sit down and make me call my wife for a ride.

I remember one time my wife wasn't home and was about thirty or forty-minutes away. Maybe it was more.

We both just sat by the curb until she arrived.

One good Samaritan  asked me if I needed a doctor or ambulance.

Fidel just looked at her as if she had two heads.

He didn't think we were doing anything unusual.

Dogs are cool, they are the best. The only part of hunting I enjoyed was the interaction between the dogs and me. The bonus was the Setters and GS Pointers were great with the kids when they were young. Miss them terribly.
