madi05
This one is kind of sad, but could be worse. About 3 weeks ago now our little dog Coco developed some issues with his left eye, it got all crusty and he couldn’t open it, we clean the crusty’s away and when he opened his eye it was a grayish color. Vet trip, doc cleave some pain and antibiotics meds to do for 10 days, the first few days it seemed to help, but then it started turning red, and he seemed to be blind in that eye, we took him back to the vet on Monday for a follow up and basically they could see something in his eye but couldn’t tell what I might be, they could speculate, but because of the pain, and the blindness it was easier to just remove the eye. The vet who does the surgery called us and we talked, she thought it may be Lymphoma, and if it was then he would be at stage 5 since it was in his eye. Which means that if it is lymphoma he would have the cancer throughout his lymph nodes and in his chest area, she did xrays and a good examination of his lymph nodes, and she did not find or see anything, Coco is approx. 15 years old. We decided to go ahead and get the eye pain taken care of by having it removed. It will get rid of the pain it was causing, and since we didn’t find any other issues, he could live another 5-6 years, he has to wear cone of shame for 14 days. I joke around about it, but he’s a pretty good dog, and he will heal. things could have been much worse than they are so having him home and healing is good. He will also be able to have the coolest Halloween costume next year as we can get him an eye patch and he can be Coco the pirate dog. I Can post a picture of some of you want to see. Maybe in a week or 2 would be better, it’s pretty bruised, but he is doing fine for 1 day post surgery. I'm glad to hear Coco is a pirate out of pain Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk tommc23

gaussman1
That's actually Ruby, who we lost at just 2 years old from brain cancer. She suddenly went blind in one eye in late November 2015 and we lost her in Jan 2016... absolutely crushed my wife and I. With a retirement soon following and relocation to Montana, we opted to be dog-less for the first time in our married life. This past spring, after returning from Yuma, we are now being ruled by River. He is 7-1/2 months old and had limited days on the water fishing - that will change next year. I mostly fish 4 and 5 weight, 9 ft rods here in MT. PS: Shout out, thanks to the OP for creating this thread. Pets are so amazing and it's really fun seeing everyone's extended family.
