West of the Cascades it rains for 4 months of the year; east of the Cascades is drier. I like Bend/Redmond, similar to my area but higher elevation. Kenny B
As long as it's not the frozen kind all that often, it would be acceptable. It's been a little more frozen this year than normal, but it's mostly rain. I lived there my first 21 years, and I was happy to leave! Many golf courses get pretty soggy since they don't drain that well. It's pretty! Nice and green; but there is a reason!! Where would be the ideal spot to relocate considering climate, quality of life, golf, etc. etc? That would make an outstanding forum discussion topic. I have never been put off by wet, soggy conditions but could see where it would become tiresome over time. All things being equal, I think California would offer the best of everything. However, "all things being equal" and California should be taken with a certain measure of caution! Kenny B

IMO, California is a nice place to visit and play golf, but I would never live there. I think your idea of a forum topic is great. However, I would expect most everyone to say that their location is the best, and for them it probably is. Everyone has different criteria. Before I retired, I traveled a lot of the country, and while I was there I would ask myself; Could I live here? I did not find very many places that met my criteria. I still like the Pacific Northwest, even though it is cold and snowy right now!! You folks take care and be CAREFUL during this time... What you have shown on here and I just saw on the news is awful! I just looked at the record low for today... 0* in 1993. Right now at 6pm it's 0*. Our average low temperature for this date is 28*. The problem is that it hasn't been above freezing since New Year's Eve, and most of the last two weeks have been in single digits. Next Wednesday is the first day this year that is supposed to be above freezing. At least it's not snowing anymore. fozcycle 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

sixcat
This image was posted on Facebook early last week by a local law enforcement officer I grew up with. If anyone is familiar with Fancy Gap Mountain in Virginia, this photo was taken at the crest of the mountain along Route 52 parallel to Interstate 77 just before crossing into North Carolina. This area is very close to Primland for anyone who has played there. Kenny B and fozcycle
