sixcat
Ridiculously hot and humid the past couple of weeks. Thunder and lightning have driven me off the golf course every day since July 16th. My opening hole last night was a 518 yard par 5 with trees lining both sides of a narrow chute that opens up some 200 yards off the tee into a wide landing area with a pretty hard dogleg right to an elevated green guarded by three very deep bunkers. It sets you up nicely for a draw off the tee when a fade is the necessary shot. The further left you are off the tee determines how long the second will play and if you can even reach in two. But if you are too far right, your second will be blocked out by the trees lining the fairway. I piped a beautiful power fade right down the middle. Hit a very nice 5-iron approach from 197 yards to about 12 feet and two putted for birdie. Then, the heavens opened up. By the time i could get back to the clubhouse, you couldn't see the golf course from the front porch. Welcome to the dog-days of summer in the south! Hoping for better luck this afternoon. Kenny B
Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday were record breaking days for high temperatures, 110, 108, 109. Today was very pleasant day to play at 80º in the morning, and it only reached 96º due to some cloud cover. The 10 day forecast shows sunny with temps in the 90's, maybe a day or two at 100º... very pleasant with low humidity and a slight breeze. Golf weather!!
