The PNW heatwave has been pushing itself east getting us into the low 90's the past few days.  I played/walked Madison Meadows and normally have no issue doing 27 holes.  The course is pretty hilly and I usually feel plenty exercised after doing so, but by hole 15 I was feeling pretty gassed.

On hole #17, after poking a tee in the ground for the par 3 iron shot, I stood up and felt dizzy 😬.  I had been drinking lots of water (even purchased a fruit punch Powerade) but at 92F, a bit more humid than normal, and no wind, it was "tap out" time.  I sat under the shade tree to rest then finished the last hole with little enthusiasm.

A couple years ago, I experienced a minor bout of heat exhaustion while sawing logs at our community firewood bank.  I walked over to my truck to get water and pretty much had to rest on my elbows on the front seat while the dizziness and tunnel vision subsided.  It was the first time I ever experienced this. I'm told once you experience heat exhaustion you are susceptible too it... dunno?

New respect for heat exposure... be safe out there.

Yes, Martha has had it several times, and she has to be very careful.  She takes all the precautions when temps get in the high 90's.  The Irish don't take well to high heat.

60* this morning but clear skies.  They were way off with yesterdays forecast, we had 1.2" of rain through the day and the humidity stuck around even though the temps weren't as high.

We had a small system move through the area early evening, dropping a little rain, cooling things off, and leaving us a wild sunset.

Looking northwest at the end of the Ruby Mountain range.  The photo dosen't really do it justice.  The entire east side of the valley (Tobacco Root Mountains) were cast in a purple-orange hue, the likes of which we'd never seen before.  River didn't seem overly impressed.

PXL_20210704_030658178.jpg.7d7edba855f95f09219dc64aca66fb37.jpg

Also increased the scent of fresh cut alfalfa & sweetgrass.

Irish on my Mother's side, so that might explain it.  Now if I could only get more of that side (and less of the German side) in lucky charm bounces and breaks out on the golf course 😐.

Just checked track of Elsa, it’s going to hook (Leftie) over Tampa then right over us.
I guess our lawn & golf course irrigation will be taken care of for a while.😱

Isn't just nuts how drenched one side of the country is and how parched the other side is?  Weather patterns seem like the old "squeeze a balloon here and it bulges elsewhere" adage.  I'm still waiting for that point where everything is in perfect harmony 🙂.

68 this morning and a nice enough to be on the deck for coffee, email and the daily status call.  That will apparently change as they say the heat index will reach 105 this afternoon.  There will be no trouble getting the back loose for golf league tonight!  I'll need to read a Kenny B post a little later with his 110+ temps making me feel cool!   😄

Red Flag Warning until tonight...

Strong T-Storms with 0% chance of rain; humidity 10-20%; wind 25-35mph.  I think we are going to get some forest/range fires.  Our governor has already declared a state of emergency.

Our golf course is closed for a tournament today.  That should be fun!

Not bad at all.  1.5” rain, some minor winds no worse than an afternoon “pop up” thunderstorm.

a few palm fronds down but no big deal.  Some courses open @ noon today with restrictions of course.
