It's about to get cold here in Tennessee, we're projected to get down below freezing Sunday morning after the rain comes through tomorrow and Saturday. I was going to get a round in this weekend, but that might not happen. 

I am happy to hear all my Florida friends are all safe after the storms down that way.

A nice, sunny 48º with no wind now at 2:30pm.  Tomorrow morning and every morning for the next week... low 20's, maybe high teens for overnight lows and daytime 30's.  No rain/snow in the forecast so golf is still on after frost delays.

I've played River's Edge GC in Bend OR several times... mid-April = frost

48* BRRRRRRRRR!  It's a toasty mid 80's here today.

It's been a beautiful November, up until today.  Record breaking high temperatures Wed and Thur, much cooler and wet this morning, turning to the mid to low 30s tonight with more rain coming.  Cold and wet enough to cancel our regular scheduled game and leave it up to a "show up" game for the die hards.

Here in Oklahoma weather has been pretty good until this weekend. In fact we have had several perfect days this fall. We are about to have a pretty good stretch of 30’s and 40’s.  Looks like may have a decent day to play Sunday getting up high 40’s low 50’s but then back down to 30’s Monday.

We have had great weather (in Nebraska) this fall until the past few day where the high is in the 30's and lows in the teens.  Course closed down for the season.  Good while it lasted.

Last week golf was for the brave souls who love the game and the last few courses were open.  This week the courses are closed as frozen greens are a real problem and ground is too soft for power carts, last week was mostly walking only on the courses still open though my Friday morning round was with a cart that provided excellent protection from the heavy rain that persisted for hours, and it probably made a difference there was only one other twosome and me on their family owned/operated golf course on Veterans Day.

Resort courses are now changing over to winter activities preparation.  Outdoors golf lasted almost 7 months this year so hopefully it will only be a 5 month hiatus until 2023 golf season starts in Western NY.

 We get these Lake Effect Snow Warnings when the forecast has precipitation expected with persistent wind direction from off Lake Erie.  The open and relatively warm lake provides plenty of heat and moisture for clouds to form and moving over the colder and higher elevations the moisture gets wrung out as precipitation as rain or snow and that all depends on the ambient temperature.  Lake Erie does freeze and nearly completely that shuts off that process but it takes a couple of months to get to that point and only if enough arctic air comes down from the Great White North to do the deep freeze thing.  Downhill Skiing is a big WNY winter sport.

Here we go!  This is when that BirdieBall PuttUp mat I tested and other trainers take over to help scratch that golf itch.  Soon to be in my putting stables is a PuttOut Premium Pressure Putt Trainer and looking forward to that to increase the challenges of indoor putting.

It was the coldest it's been this year down in SE TN, I woke up at 4 this morning and saw it was 18* out there. Almost made me glad I didn't go in to work today. 

It looks like it's going to warm up a little as the week progresses but right now the 4 day weekend is looking wet.

Cold rain, total wash out all day today

Cold, very cold around here, stay indoors cold except for a late afternoon grub hunt to Jersey Mike's yesterday.    3 seasoned gents were in line in front of me each wearing a Bill blue hoodie and a blue game overshirt inscribed with Allen.  

I knew the Bills were coming to town for our Thanksgiving game and thought these guys are way overboard coming to town so early for the turkey game and wearing game gear to boot, but I didn't know the Bills were at Ford Field yesterday playing the Brownies due to snow in the Buffalo area.

They said their area got about 70 inches of snow and they came through Canada to see their team play.  Nice fans, easy to chat with, and still can't wrap my head around a 70-inch snow assault, never seen it before.

I couldn't imagine -24, that would be almost excruciating. I think the coldest it's ever been here was -16 in 1985 when I was 10.

I hated calling out, I don't like missing work, but my doctor said they were scheduling an ultrasound for a kidney stone today.

It was 50" thereabouts at my house just 3 miles north of Highmark Stadium where it was over 70", brother in law was closer to the all-time snowfall record for NY State of 77"

Lake Effect Snowstorm was Friday night into Saturday.  This was Saturday evening after shoveling one side of the driveway and did the other side Sunday.  Now you know!

Actually...

Me and my shovel...
and by the time Sunday morning rolled around, Town Plow pushed in the street snow across the bottom widening the street by about 4 feet and drifting from the westerly winds with upwards of 30mph gusts completely filled in that space on the left in front of the snow covered vehicles.  You gotta be tough to be a WNYer   snowbirds are those who retired the field of battle from winter weather... 

Guess what keeps me fit for shoveling?  That's right, GOLF!

... Sometime in the 80's I had rehearsal and it was -83 in Chicago. Yup 83* below zero windchill. Obviously everyone was advised not to go outside. I started planning my departure that day. BTW, this was before cell phones and when I got to rehearsal there was a sign on the door "Rehearsal cancelled due to dangerous cold". It was a 3 block walk and one of my eyes froze shut when I blinked and thankfully saw on the news not to try and open it until I got indoors and thawed out naturally or I could have torn my eyelid off!
