GaDawg
Who says the weather does not help your golf game. Today we had a beautiful day with a slight breeze and temp of 80*. Teed off @ 11am at around 70* and played the best round in about 6 months. 4 birdies, 3 bogies and a stupid double for a 73. It was all due to the weather and of course my attitude. High winds yesterday 30-50mph, followed by snow last night and this morning with 15-25mph wind. Temp only got up to 28º today, and 15-19º for overnight lows the rest of this week. It warms up to 50º on Sunday, but the wind is back!! No golf for awhile. A very nice round. Congrats!! EasyPutter
Clear at lunchtime here, 3 hours later end of work came upstairs from my basement work from home office to find everything with a coating of snow that was falling in tiny flakes. Only daughter was at work, she cancelled her after school activities sending the students home earlier than apparently the coaches did, she got home safely but said roads were slick. After dusk the snow changed to freezing rain we currently have and everything is well coated now at 28*F with rain still falling. Won't last too long, this is Western NY and we only have to wait a little while to get different weather. Thoughts go out to those in the Midwest getting pummeled by this Winter Storm they call Olive. To think a week ago many local courses opened for one day for walking only 9 hole rounds, in February, in WNY. It's all about the sun's activity you know. Oh yeah, last night saw the crescent moon with Venus above it and Jupiter above that. SWMBO arrived from shopping, asked for her phone to take a photo she said "let me get inside and put these bags down" and I knew better than to rush her but clouds were just above the horizon. Finally I had her phone (has good camera) and went outside. Moon behind clouds and took the planets I could see before Venus was blocked from view. So no picture to share, the shot was missed because planets are just big dots, the crescent moon is the "Cheshire Cat"! Ron N SoCal
We have had a lot of rain this year, but I still get out and slog through the mud and play most days. Other than an occasional frost delay, there is rarely weather bad enough to keep me off the course first thing every morning. I live in Thousand Oaks, CA and have a yearly pass that is good for midweek golf most every day and for walkers like me there are no additional fees. So golf is my daily exercise routine. The wonderful state of CA has over 600" in areas. It's just been insanity!! Luckily for us it doesn't effect the golf that much. Now the rain on the other hand...we are almost done with our last storm and all weather reports point to at least 2 weeks of dry. Courses are a disaster around here, and I imagine that overall conditions for the vast majority of them will be terrible for the entire year. The real shame is that the vast majority of our snowpack will flow into the ocean as our reserviors are already full.
