Bubba switching to Volvik ball?

Recommended Posts

Reports out of South Korea suggest that Bubba is on the verge of switching to a Volvik ball for the 2017 season.  This is interesting......if it is true.

Bubba to get even more colourful

A report from a South Korean newspaper has claimed that Bubba Watson will play a Volvik ball in 2017.

The left-hander, who uses a pink Ping driver, has supposedly signed a multi-year deal with the Asian company which is renowned for its multi-coloured balls. Currently Volvik boast some stellar names in the ladies' game, including Se Ri Pak, but nobody anywhere near the stature of two-time Masters winner Watson.

His agent Jens Beck called the news “unsubstantiated rumours” to the Associated Press – Watson is currently with Titleist – which goes on to say that the American will receive $1.2m a year plus stock options and a signing bonus.

Volvik USA's president added some interesting detail in that Watson could use a pink ball for final rounds and maybe a green ball at Augusta.

Has anyone played the Vivid ball? I've always wanted to try, and I think my 7 year old would love it, but the price scares me.

My wife grabbed me a Vivid out of a "try me" bucket at the check-out counter at a PGATSS as she thought my old eyes could use some help following my ball (c'mon like I hit it _that_ far?!?) ... I liked it!

Liked it a lot - not too soft, not too firm, great distance (for me) off the tee (felt like the ball came out faster) and the short shot feel was really nice, also, with plenty of spin (not going to try to quantify that either...). Also liked the matte cover .. which seemed to resist dirt and scuffing.

Speaking of distance: I lost it deeeeeeep into the woods, way too deep to even bother to look (and where there's way too much poison ivy, anyway) on a very unexpectedly way longer than usual 6i carry.

Would probably play it but still have plenty of "value" balls to use up first.

  • SPY VIP

I realize Volvik make decent balls, but this really screams cash grab. Titleist has been supplying these tour guys for years for probably nothing, so I'm sure Bubba saw the pay day and thought "I can make this work". I'm just curious if he'll be playing pink.

I know some on the LPGA game it, don't a few of the guys on the Senior tour play it as well?

I think it would be great to watch Bubba slam his lil pink ball 50 yds past the rest, lol oh how that'd would sting

Green ball on fairways or in the rough? Isn't that going to be kind of hard to find? Bright or not?
