I feel like I need to give a shout out to the 70+ crowd. I I know at least one of you is sharp as a tac, and I don’t think my father would be able to navigate these forums well.  His idea of fun on the internet is Words with Friends.

EDIT:  Going back and reading the last couple pages I think I know that ALL of that crowd is sharp as a tac!

I'm the guy that when someone asks, "Did you see where that ball went?" responds "Yup!"
And when they ask, "Well, where did it go?"   I respond... "I don't remember."  🤣

Yup!  Sharp as a tack.

Got to love every minute of it too.

The big swing, the "where did it go", followed by the search 45 yd in front of the tee box.    It is more fun than actually playing.

Bless us all who play.  Young and old.

Graphite shaft only 55 year old here.  Steel was forced into retirement when my 40's were left in the rear view.

I am almost starting my 4th decade and still for a full head of hair in a family where every male went bald in their 20s.

So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.

Even though it’s a small poll, I believe this shows a representation of how the younger age group isn’t getting into golf as much as the older age groups. We need another Tiger Woods to spark a fire in golf again. Or am I way out to lunch on this? Lol

I'm in the 51 - 60 group 🙂

but still hit it, distance wise, as if I still belong in 31 - 40 hehehe

I’m 55. I never was a big hitter so there wasn’t much distance to lose. I’ve stayed pretty consistent with distance across my bag throughout the years.

I obviously have no supporting data so this is really just a SWAG. I don’t “think” the number of young folks getting into Golf has changed all that much. While people you find in these type sites may have started as a youth most take a long break and return only when economics and time are more supportive. Don’t murder me, it’s just my observation.

I'm in 41-50 group.

As far as whether or not it's representative of the age of golfers in general... I don't think so. My local course has had to up the number of PGA Jr teams they field the past 3 years in a row. Plenty of younger people out there. We're just the older farts sitting around on a computer to talk about it 😄

The distribution of ages at a course is probably very regional and economic driven.  The age groups for this poll doesn't reflect the age of golfers at our muni, and I expect it's no different at other courses in my area.  While we have a group of juniors, most players during the week are over 50... way over.  On Fri-Sun the age drops a little as people that work come out to play and except for a few of us "old people", the upper age groups stay home.

You'll have to explain that one to the 20 and 30 somethings on this site.

That is the approach I took when I started losing mine at 15! 25 years later I have only had 2 years where I grew it out because of lost bets and it wasn't pretty!

I did the same thing except I was 40 when I shaved it. Been keeping it off for 20 years now. Ok now follow my logic.

I would have got a haircut once every other month. So six times a year, times $20 a haircut, times 20 years is  $2,400.00. Then add mileage to and from the hair stylist should put me at $2,800. Then deduct the cost of the clippers $20.00. ( which I still use twice a week)

I now have $2,780.00 to spend on golf equipment.  I 'll let you know how this philosophy works on the wife!

I'm in sales I think I can pull it off. 😂

I tried that approach when I quit smoking 3+ years ago and it turns out that savings was hers to spend! Lol
