EthanSterlingPrice
Nice photos Ethan. Thanks for posting them. BTW... what holes are those? Anytime you're able to get out there post some more for us if you can. My bad I should've mentioned that. From top to bottom these are holes 12, 11, and 9. I thought I I had them in the opposite order when I was posting them but nope. I'll keep getting some more pictures when I play out there. Kenny B
I played a course in Portland several years ago that looked sort of like that. Columbia Edgewater. txstroker
[quote name="PlaidJacket" post="248561" I'd like to get some feed back for our format. Here's what I have been thinking. So far we have 11 players committed to playing. Based on these players so far; we could have a Championship Flight and a Seniors Flight. There's a nice group of you guys that are younger with a 4 or less hcp. About half of us will be Senior players (55-up) and a couple that fall into no man's land. I'm thinking the guys with a 4 hcp. or less play heads-up - gross. I've thought that the rest of us could play Net using 50% of our handicap. The payout will be a small amount of cash (really small) medals to 1st, 2nd, 3rd. in each flight.(Gold, Silver, Bronze) Anybody got any suggestions? Also... we still need to get more players signed up. Bring a buddy, nag a friend. Update Plaid? Are there still 11 committed and multiple maybes? Regarding the format, I like what you have proposed so far. Have you given any thought yet to tee assignments for the different flights? PlaidJacket
stroker... We still have 11 players committed and in my spreadsheet. There are 4 players that are still possible. Of the committed there are 6 that would be considered Championship with 4 or lower Hcp, 4 Seniors, and 1 in no-mans land that is too young for Senior but with a higher hcp than Championship. Of course this man in the middle can certainly play in the Senior group. All total we have 15 total players on the roster either committed or pending depending on personal time and or other issues. Currently it's still a little early to determine any tee times. I'm thinking we try and make them late morning the day of the event. Perhaps 10:30-11:30. That way people who drive up can do so and then finish early enough to drive home if not staying over night. To all reading this... we need more players. There's plenty of time to increase the field. The more players we have the better the event will be for everyone. Also... remember you can bring a buddy. txstroker
I apologize for not being clear - I am referring to the tee box assignments (i.e. Championship Flight plays from tips, Senior Flight plays from one tee box up). Those may not be our ultimate tee assignments but you get the picture. PlaidJacket
Stroker...Yes... the Championship flight will/should defiantly play the tips. It's only a little over 6800 yds. and the next tee where the Seniors should play is sightly over 6400 yds. I'm told by Ethan and the Pro there that the course is pretty tight and tree lined. Looks and sounds like a good test I think. Fun. I'm going to try and get over there in late February sometime if I can break loose. I'll try and get Ethan to join me too. Maybe you can come? EthanSterlingPrice
Oh and I meant to show y'all some of these. A tornado came through the area and had its fun with some houses and tree damage but the course itself is still in one piece some of the surrounding community got hit pretty good but all there was at the course was a little tree damage. this tree was a big one but outside of that cleanup is going smoothly. About the tee assignments: I can understand where Ethan is coming from. Even though the course is relatively short that doesn't mean it's a walk in the park. EthanSterlingPrice
Younger brother does photography and helped a bunch with this one. This is my favorite hole on the old course at Whitebluff, the par 3 13th. Plays to about 160 yards from the longest tees and 130 or so at the front with elevation change but you have to carry what is locally known as the rattlesnake pit. Hit it short and you're probably lost in the pit, hit it long and the ball probably bounced off the back into the tree line. I'm really looking forward to meeting everybody and playing a good round of golf!
