xxio 108
Golf forums are equipment driven. The ones that last anyway. We all want to talk about, diss, pine for, critize equipment otherwise we would be on FB, IG, and twitter instead of being on here. Btw my playing partners tell me to never change driver or even touch the current settings of my Epic. My drivers in the last 4-5 years were Optiforce 440, Big Bertha Alpha, FlyZ+ (2nd place to Epic), King LTD. Only 2 (including Epic, were bought new). 3 of them were with the exact same shaft set up. The way I'm driving the ball I would spend the money again on a new Epic.

Were the same shafts in both? MDGolfHacker Biggest difference with the Epic vs my Nakashima, or even the M1 I had for a minute, is the accuracy and forgiveness. I was longer with the M1 than the Nak, ball speed was a couple MPHs better. The Epic was as high as 4 MPH faster on ball speed than the M1. I'm closer to 300 more often with better distance into the wind as well. wbealsd 1,063
I scheduled my fitting last week primarily to fill a gap between my current hybrid and fairway wood, but added the driver fitting just to see if there was anything that could beat my 913 D2 that I've been gaming for 4 years. The only driver that really out-performed it, with better spin/launch/distance/accuracy was the Epic. Results from the Trackman for the 913 D2 were almost exactly what I've been getting with my GC2, so I feel very comfortable about switching to the Epic. I expect it will be in my bag for a long time. 2 Quote What's In The Bag Driver Titleist 913 D2 10.5* (set to 9.75* / Neutral) 46" Paderson KINETIXX Kevlar Green - R Fairway Wood Tom Wishon 949 MC 16.5* Fujikura Speeder 569-A Hybrid Hibore 22* Aldila VS Proto Blue Irons G series 5-P Wedges Glide 54* SS / 60* TS - SCOR 53* Putter Nike Method 001 / P2 Reflex grip 35" Ball Master Grip Tour C4 Bag Datrek DG Lite
Undershooter 4,135
Very curious how the Epic sounds and feels vs M2. I've been playing TM for so many years.Sound and feel were better for me with Epic. Numbers were close with both. Misses were better with M2 and Epic SZ's best swings might have been a bit longer. At the end of the day, I couldnt justify the extra 300 for the Epic/shaft combo I wanted vs same shaft combo for the M2. So I went M2 and am happy. 1 Quote Driver- Tmag 2017 M2 tour issue 8.5* actual loft 7.8* w/ HZRDS Green PVD 70TX" Fairway Metal- Taylormade SLDR Mini Driver 12* w/ Fujikura Rombax TP95-X" Utility- Mizuno MPH5 1 iron w/ Aldila RIP 85X (depending on course/ conditions) Irons- Mizuno MP- FLI HI 2i w/ Aldila Proto ByYou 100X Mizuno MP59 4i-6I w/ PX 6.5 Mizuno MP69 7i-PW w/ PX 6.5 Wedges- Scratch 8620 Driver/Slider set. 50*, 54* bent to 55* and 60* Putter- Taylormade Spider Tour w/ flow neck Ball- Bridgestone Tour B X Bag- Sun Mountain C130 Supercharged

I always hate how Cobra sometimes gets overlooked when talking about the best products each year Completely agree. I've used a the cobra fly z+ for a few years now and have tried several other drivers including the king ltd, and so far nothing has beat the fly z+. That being said I did try the epic and wow. Didn't get any numbers to compare, but it certainly felt and looked like it was going just as far and straight. However tough to justify $600+ for something isn't that different in performance. Maybe I'll have to get a launch monitor to really test side by side. Quote as of April 15, 2022 SuperSpeed 2020 from 100-112 and climbing! Some folks just have to have the latest and greatest which is ok by me it's their money and besides it makes the last generation clubs cheaper for us PO Ho's I'm playing right now a Ping i20 that I got used in a trade and was the "throw in". chisag 18,671
Same! Fantastic driver. I always hate how Cobra sometimes gets overlooked when talking about the best products each year ... Cobra has been making as good a driver (or better) as any OEM for quite a few years now. I usually have several new drivers every year but the Cobra Fly Z just refuses to leave my bag. The combination of spin, trajectory, feel, sound and forgiveness just hasn't been beat. And there have been many challengers. I also bought a Fly Z for my 23 yr old son that carries it 280-290 under normal conditions and put a Nunchuk in it for him. He won't even consider hitting another driver. 2 Quote Driver: LTDx 10.5* ... LinQ M40X 6F3 Fairway: SIM2 Max 15/16.5/18* ... Tensei Raw Blue 65R Utility: UDi 18* ... Even Flow Black 85R DHy 19* ... princess57 4
Bought the GBB Epic sub zero driver. I bought the Epic while recovering from toe surgery...did not hit any balls...nothing! I trusted my Fitter at Edwin Watts Golf. I received the club approximately 2 months later as the demand was so high my particular driver was on back order. I had recovered by time the driver arrived and was starting to play golf once again. I WAS SPEECHLESS! After playing the driver the very first time...during the round my buddies were all astounded at how far and straight I was hitting the ball?! I assured them it was the arrow and not the Indian in this case?! As I have continued to get my game back I have hit the ball even farther and continue to hit the ball where aimed! I get great trajectory and as I have said...DISTANCE! I will soon be 60 years old and I am hitting the ball about 260-270 regularly and hitting it straight! I can honestly say...this is the first club in my golfing life, I have purchased and all the advertising, all the hype were point on! Several of my golfing buddies have checked out the driver and are considering purchasing. As always, fit is key. I always tell guys I run into to make sure they get fit! I am amazed even today how many guys don't take the time to get fit and then wonder why they are disappointed later?! The GBB sub zero Epic is the best club I have ever purchased! Well done Callaway!
PlaidJacket 7,737
I had forgotten this but last weekend.... A friend was playing a brand spanking new Epic. He was all stoked because a guy at a local retail shop had him all "dialed in". Except he wasn't apparently. Before we started the round he was telling how much distance he'd picked up. Except he hasn't. He used to play a TM driver from last years offering. M1 or M2? Normally we're pretty equal off the tee. But last weekend I was past him many times by 10-15 yds. I play an old ancient 2014 SLDR. Several of his drives were out left horribly. We're both about the same age. 62. I asked him later how he was liking the club and he grumbled he was going back to the retailer for more adjustment. I've seen many Epic's and thought they were great looking and sounded good too. I wish him luck. 1 Quote My Sun Mountain bag currently includes: 771CSI 5i - PW and PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges EXS 10.5*, 929-HS FW4 16.5* Willimette w/GolfPride Contour
