I really enjoyed being part of your test last year Boz but understand I don't fit your target profile. I love the UV balls even though they don't perform quite like I prefer around the greens. I find them to be superior to to everything but the top of the line tour level 3+ piece balls! I'll be keeping an eye open hoping for some new designs for lower handicappers!

PS: STILL using my glove, probably put about 15 rounds on it and its STILL going, NEVER had a glove like it! Its now for special occasions only, need to get a few more!

I'm about the same as Tyk in this regard. The balls are great for distance and vision (and really, I can't overstate that), but not something I'd play everyday as a lower handicap.

Absolutely LOVE the glove though. I've probably logged around 20 rounds and it's still going strong. Even played one round last year in pouring rain and it was much better than traditional leather gloves.

I've been reading about these for a few years, there are some excellent reviews on line, some in English. This really challenged my German. Ralph Maltby also has interesting comments on groove-less clubs. I must admit I rarely get the ball to spin back on the green with my wedges and I do take a lot of surface material off the ball when I hit. I figured it was a matter of chance and the pros are just lucky. I would not mind trying these clubs myself, or just wait until my wedges are worn out.

Well you know from my perspective I love the fact that they won't damage the cover of my ball designs like some box grooves do. Plus I get to play around with a greater variation in new advanced cover materials for this reason as well.

Hi Guys , here is also a unique iron concept we are currently testing in Oz for Mike Klais a German Vision Ball Test Pilot designer that has come onboard.More info as we see how they play as you can imagine they create a lot of questions when we have read so much about grooves over the past few years. Cheers, Boz

Grooveless Irons Germany gl.jpg

OK Boz, I'm curious. Why an iron without grooves?

From Ralph Maltby:

Backspin is created by friction and the clubhead force component along the face. Friction is a function of area of contact between the ball and the face and of the loft. When dry clean conditions, a grooveless face will have more area in contact with the ball than a grooved one. When using softer balls and/or hitting down and/or hitting hard, the ball will flatten more and the area will extend = more friction and more backspin. When using dirty balls or dirty face, nothing helps really, backspin is reduced. When hitting with grass in between, grooves will remove more of the water and juice and hinder the friction to be too much reduced.

and from the German site: So, here's what they say:

1. Grooves actually slow the ball down due to a cogwheel effect. This is, however, only true for a decent ball contact, which they define as a smash factor between 1.3 and 1.5. So, under those circumstances the grooveless design adds length.

2. They measured 10-20% more spin on different launch monitors.

3. The grooveless irons work equally well in all kinds of weather and from the rough. High handicappers can play them, if they are motivated. Bogey golfers and better will have no problems.

4. You can get the heads separately as components, but be prepared to write a decent check.

The main thing we are looking at is does the concept have real merit in play and if so then I am looking to work with Mike Klais (the designer) to extend out testing to some Vision Test Pilots in my different markets.

The idea of keeping it some what exclusive is still the way I see this working though as the golf markets of the world are still in a mess so a normal distribution pathway would add too many layers of cost but I am looking at how we might do something special for my team members down the track.

Cheers, Boz

Hey Jr.

How do we get more people to believe in Boz and what he is doing. I just cant understand how anyone on here wont try these balls at 20 a dozen you cant buy Topflight gamer. I am wondering when newbies come here a post that has over 400 replies they may get intimidated and just skip it. What do you think?

BTW I don't see vision mentioned in your profile. just sayin

Hi MGS,

I had recently heard about the Vision Test Pilot program taking place at MGS and thought I would come and check it out. My name is AB and I am a Vision Test Pilot from Australia. I have just spent the evening reading through your Vision thread and it is striking how similar the findings and the process is from the forum we have running in Australia on Iseekgolf.

I thought I would come in here and introduce myself. I am a former professional Long Drive competitor who has now been using the Vision products for the last 6 months. Initially I came across this “game improvement golf ball” in the Australian forum. I was used to hitting more “traditional golf balls” in the low compression market at the local driving range and finding them next to useless - they over compressed, lost their flight and ended up falling out of the sky. Consequently when I read in the Australian forum one of the Vision members saying how the “Vision Pinky” had been used in UK Long Drive Competition, I arrogantly jumped into the forum and criticised this statement… “How would a low compression ball ever be used in a Long Drive competition where we are used to using balls of 105 compression and greater?”

To Boz's credit he contacted me directly by email and rather than giving me the facts and trying to convey the benefits his Vision brand provided, he simply offered me a testing sample of his product and asked me to see what I thought.

After my initial testing session, I knew I was going to have to eat some humble pie. Not only were they very interesting to look at (I'm sure those of you already involved in 2010's testing program can attest to this), they actually performed amazingly well for a ball that was designed for sub 110mph golf swings. At the time I was swinging in the high 140's – early 150's, so to get any kind of performance out of a lower compression golf ball was amazing. Whilst they were not the longest ball I had ever hit compared to other commercial designs their performance was super high class! It was the ball flight and the consistency of distance that impressed me most though. To have a dozen golf balls finish within 10 yards of each other over a distance of 360 yards was incredible.

Hearing from the other test pilots in Australia about their golf course “playability” and being a bit stale from Long Drive, I decided to begin hitting them with irons and taking them out onto the course. In the last 6 months we have had some very eye opening characteristics of the ball become evident...

“I would like to put a side note in here and say that the reason I haven't mentioned any of these characteristics is that one of the great things Boz does is to let you discover things for yourself. There is a true genius behind his method of making you test the product with little prior knowledge. Whilst testing the balls and paying attention to what they do and how they play, you end up learning so much about your golf game and how you can go about playing it. This encourages you to hit different shots and to try and fit the particular golf ball you are testing to the course. This is an added game improvement benefit of being part of the test pilot program”.

6 months after discovering the Vision ball I have actually retired from competitive long drive. I now play off a scratch handicap and currently have a best round of a 6 under 66 from the black markers using a UVX3 golf ball (my personal favourite) – I can tell you the looks you get playing off scratch using a yellow (and sometimes pink ;) ) golf ball are priceless! I am currently using the next 6 months to really focus on my golf. The Australian Tour Q School happens in late December each year and I am actually now considering throwing my hat in the ring.

The experience Boz provides in his test pilot program is one that I can't stress enough that will give you an opportunity to not only gain improvement in your golf but to gain a new sense of enjoyment in it. This is truly what Boz and Vision have done for me and my game. Boz is also a very genuine and generous man who will surprise you guys with the level of customer service he provides. His knowledge and background in the golf industry makes him a great source of information, do not hesitate to ask him questions at any time, the answers will always be educational and thought provoking. He is certainly one of the “good guys”.

No if you are wondering, he does not pay me, I am not employed by Vision, nor has he asked me to do this, in fact I am sure he will be embarrassed by much of what I have said as he is a very modest and humble man. I write this for two reasons…

1. Boz through the way he conducts his test pilot program, the advice and knowledge he provides, as well as the products he has designed, has reignited my love for the game of golf again. And I am sure had it not been for his generosity in the face of my initial product adversity, I would not be in the position that I am today as a golfer.

2. Vision test pilots are a team and a community. There is definitely camaraderie between the members over here in Australia. I would like to extend this camaraderie to you guys at My Golf Spy also. If I can ever answer any questions you might have either going into the Vision Test Pilot Program or during it, please don't ever hesitate to ask. I will check in here regularly and see how you guys are going. Feel free to drop by our forum thread too at ISG any time also, I am sure all the guys would love to hear your Vision experiences.

Have fun guys, hope to meet and speak to you all again soon… :D

Have you ever wished you could get on the ground floor of a great deal?

Well you need to order from Boz of visiongolf.com I have ordered 3 times in the past year and I am here to tell you OREDER FROM HIM

THE BALLS ARE GREAT his latest offer is as cheap as any you will find at golf retailers and the extras you get in addition to what you pay for is very nice and very useful . Along with that no one you play with has seen a ball like this.

Look back a couple of post Boz from Oz is offering 3 dozen first run balls in his test pilot program for $60 that is $20 per doz. you cant by topflight gamer's for that.

Also if you join his program you are in the family and he will treat you very well.

As a disclaimer I am just a guy who found a great product and am trying to share my complete satisfaction and am in no way associated with his company.

Well, I played my two Fantoms last week....shot an 86 and came in the money (2nd place).

I liked the trajectory.....both were somewhat soft feeling, one was a Lady Fantom.

I would have played them for more than one round, but i lost one, then played the Lady until the cover had about 4 cart path scars.

Will be ordering the next round of test balls shortly...

New Vision balls and gear just got here! What a great box of stuff Boz! I was playing a white X3 that I found in my bag just yesterday and the thing that always surprises me is the great pop and feel of these balls on full iron shots! I play these balls about a 1/2 club longer and rarely come up short.

Got a Russell, some prototypes and some Phantoms along with some X3UVs. Gonna bust some out in a big 3 man Scramble in a few weeks along with my Vision Schwag! Great hat too btw!

Thanks again Boz, your customer appreciation alone is enough to get these balls into play in my book!

My care package from Boz also arrived, faster than Vancouver snail mail! thanks Wayne, I must say that I do got odd looks from the macho players when I play the "pretty coloured balls" but nobody says anything except "wow. you can really see that ball go, you don't lose it in the sun" I explain where they come from but don't let them use one, maybe I should. Over a short period I lost most of the yellow balls which is a pity, no fault of the balls though just the idiot swinging the club. I really like using them, yes they do scuff but easy to clean up with an abrasive pad if needed. They all perform well, I have no idea which ones I prefer as I just tend to pull one out and use it. I think I prefer the UV X3 yellows, they hit well and are easy to find especially at the bottom of the pond. Looking forward to using some of the new balls, I am going to give some of the Vision hats away as prizes for our next golf meet up game, I should give a few balls but dammit I will spend more time looking for a lost Vision ball than anything else so it's hard to part with them. Folks you have nothing to lose by trying these balls, not cheap but not the most expensive either and they will suit your game for most of you. Here's a tip for twilight games, charge these babies with a UV light before going out, it enhances the brightness.

Hi Guys,

Just to confirm I am doing special MGS TP packs

from Oz to my players with the latest models

until such time as I find a way forward in the US.

The cost relates more to my freight cost and as

such is good overall value.

Just PM me if required,

Got my Box last Thursday...the package had all sorts of goodies in it.

I was off Friday to play a new course (new to me)The Claw at USF, Tampa...I Lost the first ball UV on hole #3....I was just off the right side of the fairway on my drive and had to punch back in from the thick rough. Well, I got a flyer and it went into the cypress trees on the other side....as I ventured into the tree stand to find my bright yellow Vision ball, I noticed a large area of swampy water about 6 feet off the fairway. As I peered into the shaded area I suddenly noticed something moving at my feet, an 18" baby alligator. Slowly, as my eyes focused to the darker area, I noticed there were two of them.....then three. Before I could say anything, there were 5 baby alligators swimming around in the swamp. I don't have to tell you that when there's 5 baby alligators at your feet, the momma is not far away. All I could picture was the scene from the movie, Jurassic Park, where the baby velociraptors were chasing the men.....then eating them...

Now that was one Vision UV golfball that I was going to leave in the rough....

You let baby alligators chase you off a Vision ball?! :P

I played the Prototype 308 yesterday and shot 79 with it mostly due to shaky putting. What's the story behind the Prototypes? What's different about them? I couldn't say I noticed much difference between them and the X3, but I wasn't working with them side by side either.

Hey Foz,,,, :o I would have passed too.

Hi Tyk,

I am working on a possible updated colour style for the X4UV so if

you go side by side it should be brighter and also able to retain its colour for longer.

I am still working on the feel I get from the

addition of the new glowing pigment.

Cheers,

Boz.
