Vision Golf Ball - US Test Pilot Project - MyGolfSpy

Recommended Posts

I played hookie yesterday and played with about 25 other "Old Guys" at Babe Zaharias GC in Tampa.

I took out one Vision Prototype 808 (have 2 left). I played the entire round with one ball! Beats the heck out of last week, losing them the the gators!

With a tweak from a pro friend of mine (he's the golf dept mgr at the local Dick's), I closed my new driver face a tad at setup and launched the 808 200 to 235 yds all day long. I shot an 84.

Gotta say, I wish I could go back and fish the 808 out of the swamp.....

As bright as they are in the fairway and light rough, this time of year the rough is thick as thieves so there were a couple times when I actually had to search for my ball as the grass was thick. I don't care what color your ball is, when the grass is 3 to 4 inches tall, you're gonna have some trouble finding it. However, when you do see it, you know it's yours!

If I keep this up, it will take a long time to go through the new package.

Thanks Boz

After with one ball, X808, I can now report that I have played three complete rounds with just one ball.

Here's what I got from it:

Babe Zaharias GC, Par 72....shot 84, won $14 for closest to the pin

Pebble Creek GC, Par 71....shot 84, won $108 for best +/- stableford points with +11

Pebble Creek GC, Par 71....shot 87, won $21 for team with lowest two ball best ball score

If this keeps up I will be getting challenges that my little yellow ball is not usga approved.

The X808 performs well on all clubs, driver, fairway woods & hybrids, approach irons, bunker shots (2 sand saves this weekend)and putter (3 birdies...one each round).

The x808 is the best from Boz so far!

I am really having fun hitting my little yellow ball!

R.I.P. X808!

I am sad to announce that my X808 was laid to rest(actually, it took a dive into a pond) on the 70th hole, just 2 holes short of a full 72 holes!

It performed above and beyond all expectations.....distance, accuracy, bounce, bunker saves, rolling on the green for almost four complete rounds. I will miss you.

I only have one X808 left, so I will save it for now and move on to the WB's.

P.S. I guess I don't need a manager or pr agent.....yet.

We travel to Tarpon Springs on Saturday to play a sister to our home course......Wentworth GC was private club and was purchased in Jan by the owner of our home course, Pebble Creek. Wentworth is a rolling, tight course with lightning greens. I'm thinking of using a WB and Arctic White.

I 've got over 30 players set up for the event. should be a great day of golf!

Thanks JB,

I think this type of business model where I do deal directly with my player

group is the one I enjoy the most and will probably be the best way for me

tackle the US and Canadian markets at my size.

Talk more soon,

Boz.

I really love the X808, and they get another session this Sunday. I really like the feel off the irons and wedges, this will be my ball of choice for a long, long time.

Hey JB,

I read where they refer to the X808 as the BoB in Australia.....

I found it to be a great ball and was saddened when I had to forfeit one to a pool of baby alligators.....LOL!

Boz, the BoB was on fire this weekend, I shot my personal best of 85 Sunday, and being a 21 handicap at the beginning of Spring, I couldn't be more happy. Not only did the ball preform great of the tee and around the greens, my mid irons seem to have benifited the most, they just feel o so nice coming off the club face.

X808 is for sure my ball of choice, and now, I have friends interested in your product. i have directed 11 people to the web site since last week, and I hope you will see more orders from my friends shortly. I do have a specific question, you have any more of the blue golf balls in stock?

First post here, and I'm on the Vision Golf band wagon. Wayne's response to my TP sign up was outstanding, and only days later I had my stuff. And what great looking stuff! Haven't gotten any of it to the course yet, but I will this weekend and I can't wait. The only question is which ball to play first!

  • 2 months later...

Well, I just changed golf courses.....the course where I used to be a member closed 3 years ago, but has recently undergone a massive renovation and re-opened. Quail Hollow Golf Club is in Wesley Chapel, FL (about 12 miles north of Tampa.

The difference is the greens are harder ands faster than where I've been playing for the last three years....in other words, time to consider a ball change. I was hitting the Callaway HX Hot as the greens where i was playing were extremely soft due to oconstant overwatering. At Quail, the greens are much harder, so the HX Hot will bounce and run off the back of the green.

Last Sunday, I played 2 rounds....morning round with the Callaway and afternoon round with the Vision UV Yellow. Not only did the ball stop much better on the greens, but the side spin was reduced and I hit 10/14 fairways.

Next week, I'll be using the Vision balls again!

Hi JB, Thanks for that, I am working hard behind the scenes to find a

practical US formula to servicing players and building awareness of my

designs.

The Yellow ball approach of the majors will help but I wish they would

explain the benefits better and the variation in colour and style still

has the UV's as the best way to produce a visible performance benefit

for most players.

Thanks again also to all the boys for their great feedback and support over

the last 18 months as it has been much appreciated.

Cheers,

Boz.

PS its interesting days also as even Titleist have deceided to start manufacturing

some of their balls in Asia, the local ProV1's and X's here in Oz are now supplied

from a relatively new Acushnet plant # 4 in Thailand,,,,,,,,
