Callaway MB irons

I don't know that the majority of the public needs to mess with blades like Rory Phil and Tiger. Do agree with y'all though, very pretty to look at.

Phil still bags the ole 2013 x forged I think. So he doesn't really even play a blade either.

They look a little like taylormade's last MB

LOL I know you are a young guy but if you want to really want to get technical they look like a set of 1980s Macgregor VIP or Muirfield blades. Trust me I have 4 sets and as you stated like the TM MBs Basic physical properties have not changed on MB irons in the last 50 years

All Nike balls were produced by Bridgestone for quite a while, not just Tigers. This has been public knowledge for some years now.

The irons I didn't think were Mizzy but I'm honestly blanking on it and don't feel like looking. You could be right there.

very interesting hhmm hmm top notch son top notch lol

Reed just got a chromed version of these this week. Doubt he puts them in play right away but they look good.

The finish is different and Rory's have the cosmetic stuff just above the muscle.

They used to deny Tiger was playing Mizuno irons at the beginning of Nike clubs as well. Tiger also played a "Nike" ball that was Bridgestone. No one would ever admit it until years from now.

Well, since he was leaving Titleist for Nike, he went back to his older set of Mizunos, if I remember correctly.

But this happens  EVERY  time there is a company who releases a blade.  'OH, thats a (Insert name here)  that was re stamped with (insert name here)

Look, there are only so many designs you can do with a blade.

But, that's only because of recent memory. No one ever looks at this Callaway blade and says it looks like a Slazenger SB01 or 02. or Sounder Custom blades Seve used.

Because again there's only so much you can do with a blade.

I love the brushed look more than the chrome. The apex has been out for a while now, so hopefully we see this sold soon even though they look like a rip of other clubs. It a head game anyway some people hit a muscle better just because of the name that is on it.

So they're stamped "Callaway", but I'm guessing, under the hood, they're something else.

Agree with you here. There are two models floating around as well: a chrome finish with wide groove spacing and a satin/brushed finish wish tight groove spacing. Has anyone seen the top line on these? Super chunky for a blade. Looks similar to the TM-P770.

Very interested to see if Callaway brings either of the finishes to market.

I found out that the new MB w/blue & red paint above belong to Kelly Kraft.  He had them at the Shell Houston Open.

They're 100% made by callaway. Harry Arnett confirmed it.

Also its Jonathan Wall said that the chrome version would likely be coming to retail this fall, while the raw version was a custom finish for Roryhttp://www.pgatour.com/equipmentreport/2017/03/14/mailbag--rory-s-irons-and-benefits-of-shorter-drivers.amp.html

i read somewhere that they will be offering two finishes for the the new Apex MB in a Raw and Chrome finish. if i can find the site i'll post it up on here.

it would be smart if they did offer two finishes for the public. i'd def be looking into picking a set up if they did

Which is an exact copy of a 1967 Macgregor VIP. Yep IMHO that is a 67 VIP with Callaway stamped on it.

Edit I was half asleep this morning and did not realize I had posted basically the same thing earlier in the thread---- Please give me credit for a "senior moment"

That is the same irons I am bagging right now except mine are right handed. There are quite a few Cally staffers still gaming the 2013 X forged. Alex Cejeka on the European Tour still games them in fact my set was one of his prototype sets/back up sets that he never played. I am the 3rd owner of them and when I got them they had barely been hit. Some will debate the blade thing. They are not musclebacks true but they are players CBs. A lot of people say they are hard to hit but for me they are easier coming from either Macgregor or Mizuno blades all my life. Since I do not play or practice as much any more like I used to I need some forgiveness and I can get away with some crap with those. But man oh man when I am on those things are sweet feel like my old MP-33s
