DIY Black Putter Shaft (or other colors)

I just did my ER5 so as long as it's actually 5/8" shrink tubing it should be fine. If it's not fitting maybe you were sent the wrong size?

Dang. It must be the wrong size because it will definitely not go over the end of the shaft.

I just ordered a new Limited Edition SS Skull Grip for my MLA putter and had been looking at black shafts too. This is a great idea and I just ordered some ebay heat shrink to do this.  Was gonna put the grip on Friday but, now I will wait until the heat shrink arrives on Monday. Thanks for the idea!!!!!    I will post before & after pics once I'm done.

Those are looking good, RookieBlue. The yellow head is different, but looks nice. Black on black putters are so appealing to me.

Great idea and I am inspired to try this too.  I will be using a propane torch to do mine though, just have to be careful but it should work well.

Well don't order this shrink tubing https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MPWDPE8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

the pics look like there is no writing on it but unfortunately there is.  Anyone have a link to some that they know has no lettering?

What are the chances of torching a putter neck to a different color while trying to pull the shaft?

Move the heat around while you heat up to remove the head, it takes only a few seconds with a torch to remove a putter head

I'd use a heat gun if you're worried about coloration changes honestly. Or use shielding paste. It'll prevent a color change

A heat gun is what I currently have so that works anyway. Thanks!

OK, my heat shrink arrived yesterday and I put it on my putter.  It looks BA to me, love it.  Now for  a tip to those who blow their grips on.  I cut the heat shrink off so it would be about an inch above the end of the grip, I only tape the end of the shaft to keep it from cutting the grip and then blow on the grip.  Well, yesterday when I began to blow on the grip the air actually forced itself up the heat shrink tubing and popped it.  Good thing I bought the 8' offering as it gave me plenty to redo the shaft.  The second time I cut the tape long enough to cover the end of the heat shrink and the grip went on with no problem.

Lesson learned.

I taped my heat shrink at the top before blowing on my grip so I didn't have any issues luckily.  Like you I also cut it so it only went up into the grip about 1 inch.

This looks so good!

How do I get the original grip off an Evnroll ER2 without cutting it?

I have a compressor and blow other grips on, but I don't know if it will blow off. Usually iron grips are glued too hard and the air is trapped.

I really want to reuse my Evnroll grip.

You may try to squirt some solvent down there to loosen things up a bit, then blow it off.
