Scratch Golf (Putters) (Pics!)

There's some potential there. Too bad Ari and Jeff McCoy were in such a rush to have these displayed at Orlando this year (2010). Some extra grinding here and there would have made a big difference in aesthetics.

I agree, the putters look a little unfinished in these pics. I would like to see what the finished product will look like. If they put the effort in the putters that they have put in everything else then these will be some top-notch putters.

I think Moore is using a Scratch putter right now.

Welds seem a little big at the neck. Would try them though.

What is the price point? Seems like there are lots of excellent $300 options out there.

I believe Ari said they will start somewhere in $279-ish range, for the retail one piece CNC milled putters.

I'm really starting to like what I see with Scratch. Now the putters look like they just came off the mill and I personally like the raw look. I might have to clean up the welds a bit but otherwise they look good. JMO

Why is the welding between the head and the hosel made in such a poor way??

They were in a time crunch to get these done for the 2010 PGA Merchandise Show. Couldn't be helped.

I was reading about these one "another forum" and Ari himself said that he brought these to the show unfinished as kind of an idea to potential customers as to what they were capable of doing. These are in the "raw" stage and I have seen pictures of Ryan Moore's (former?) gamer and it was finished of very nicely.

This is good to hear. I look forward to seeing the finished models.

I have to agree...they look rushed, and a lot of potential; Do the welds have to be that thick looking? It doesn't look pleasing to the eye. I like the like the look of great craftsmanship, but it does look rushed.

I think the was intended though. Sneak peek of what is coming. Scratch irons and wedges are way to polished an pretty to have a clunky putter dragging behind.

The Scratch fellas started their shop about 5 min from my house. There is still a retail store in town, even though they have moved the Tour Shop to Tennessee. I will make an effort to get over there and snap a few photos for the board.

Some people like the look of thick welds, but it also appears this putter was a little rushed, so that could explain that.

Geez guys - give Scratch a little bit of a break. MGS is just is trying to give us a not ready for prime time peek into what's coming from them.

I will tell you... what peeked my interest is seeing on Twitter the mention that Don White will be working on the putter that will be awarded to the contest winner. Don White, for those of you who don't know, is a legendary clubmaker who has moved from MacGregor to Scratch. Google him for more info. Getting Don is a major accomplishment for them.

+1. I think it says near the top that these aren't finished. If you know Scratch, then you know that the final products are going to be first class. No way that they would spend all this time building up a quality reputation just to throw it away by putting out putters that don't meet those standards.

It has been established that these are intended to be in progress putters, just for the PGA show as a teaser.

There are finished models in the boards. http://forum.mygolfspy.com/topic/325-scratch-jeff-mccoy-hand-made-putter-heading-to-lpga-tour/

I don't think we need to discuss how unfinished these are anymore.
