New Shaft for R1

mjtgolf1911

Recommended Posts

Hey Guys,

Looking for some feedback/ideas for a relatively decent priced x-stiff shaft that I can swap in and out of my R1 driver.  Looking at possibly bringing a shorter shaft into play for tighter courses and toying with the idea.

Dont want to blow a bunch of money on an experiment, but thought it would be worth a shot.

Thanks!

Mike

What do you play now?  Does it work?  Were you fit for it?  Do you like it?

This is so open ended that it's hard to even start with a recommendation.  It's like asking for a blue ink cartridge without knowing what brand and model printer you have.  Need some additional information otherwise it's no better than looking at a store and saying "that one looks cheap, let's try it"

Any shaft can be used in the R1. You just need to put on the correct adapter.

The issue is what shaft characteristics do you want? High Launch? Low weight? Also An X flex in one shaft does not necessarily equate to an x flex in another shaft even within the same manufacturer. If you just want one how about the HZDROUS shafts. They seem to get good feedback

Sorry guys, should have been much more specific with the post.  Currently i play the x-stiff that came with the R1, gotta double check exactly which shaft it is.  I would prefer a high kick point since I already launch the ball high as it is. Was never fitted for my driver, just bought it knowing that the shaft had a high kickpoint and was x-stiff.

Have swing speed over 105mph consistently and usually average 300 off the tee...control is typically the issue, so looking to change something up.  Also, like to tinker with equipment so thought this might be a fun change up :)

Have you considered going to get fit?  May cost you $100 but do it once right and then you will be able to buy a shaft with an informed decision.

Otherwise you might as well throw darts at a shaft chart and pick whatever you hit.

I played a Grafalloy Blue in my R1. I trimmed it down to 3 wood length to gain accuracy. Didn't loose any distance either.

I think I still have it in the garage if interested. Let me know.

I'm not a shaft guy but I'm interested in my rediscovery this weekend of XCalibur Golf Shafts and Robin Arthur. I'm sure some guys around here are familiar with him.

What flex do you have it in? I might be interested since you already have the R1 adaptor in it

It was R flex but is closer to stiff after cutting it down.

My swing speed is 110+ and it performed well for me.
