4Left
Had the chance to take some swings with the new M1, Epic, and the Epic subzero today. None of these were fitted or adjusted in any way, I was just excited to get my hands on them and had no time to mess around with loft and weight position. Tried the M1 first and I was seeing better numbers than my gamer (R1) and it felt pretty good. Next up was the subzero...It felt good. I saw a tighter dispersion, lower spin, and longer distance. I had 3 shots carry in the 250 range, 280 total and one settled on the line. (Grain of salt for retail LM's of course) The rest were well above my averages and would have found a fairway. I also tend to lose shots left and it seems to have a bit of a fade bias which was helping me as well. It had a wonderful feel at impact that felt like you got it even when you only sort of got it. Finally I hit the Epic. I was seeing better results than with my current gamer and the M1 but I found it wasn't doing me any favors with my left miss. I also tried the F7 and 917 while I was out and they were all great sticks, but the Epic was a stand out for me. If you have a driver as old as mine (4 years now) and are looking to upgrade, give this one a go. It's called the Epic, you have to.
jaskanski
I'd like to take this opportunity to extend to everyone my opinion that the hype is real for ferrari cars, rolex watches and gucci wallets too. PlaidJacket
I might get interested in an Epic later this year after the price has dropped by a third. Or... wait till next year when Callaway discovers they've found some other "revolutionary" trick (double jailbreak?) and the Epic is 1/2 price and doesn't fly 6 inches further like the newest model. It is inevitably going to drop in price and I am going to hold out until then. But after trying it up against other new models and having checked out some of last year's gear like the Big Bertha and the Cobra F6+ which have gone down by 30-40%, it will be worth the wait.
