hckymeyer
Not sure if any of you guys watch the web.com tour, but their first event of the year is pretty damn crazy. It's in the Bahamas and let's just say the conditions aren't favorable for a shootout. If you managed to shoot 11 over par in the first two rounds you get to stick around for the finale. Yes that's 11 OVER par. One guy lost 32 golf balls! I hope he was playing Kirklands or that's getting pricey! Check out the article on Golf Digest... http://www.golfdigest.com/story/a-tour-pro-lost-32-golf-balls-at-bahamas-event-that-produced-the-highest-cut-line-in-webcom-tour-history Can you imagine losing 32 golf balls over 2 rounds of golf...as a tour pro? I'm guessing pro's go 2 years without losing that many balls. So what's your record for golf balls lost? Any crazy weather stories you've played in? MDGolfHacker
Saw this. Crazy to think that numbers like that could exist on any pro tour. Surprised the governing body didn't suspend play due to the high winds. Almost unplayable conditions... MDGolfHacker TSssWhat's In This Lefty's Bag? Golfspy_CG2
We were just discussing that in the pro shop. Crazy!! The Most I can ever remember losing in one round was 12. I started the round with a new dozen and they started having a mind of their own very quickly, I finshed the found with one ball in my bag, but I also believe I found a wayward ball or two during the round, in addition to the dozen I began with. Note to any future MGS playing partners, that was many years ago when I was a slice machine. Now the good news is I don't hit the ball far enough to lose it very often...ha As for craziest weather, I did play a round here in Maryland toward the end of last year where I couldn't keep a hat on my head pretty much 25 to 30 mph sustained winds. But the worst was on a trip to Myrtle Beach about 15 years ago. We had prepaid for the trip, and were scheduled to play 27 holes on a Sunday morning in early December. It was 26 degrees with a windchill of 17 when we teed off. We played 9 holes, and then decided a hot shower and heading to the sports bar to watch football, would be a much more enjoyable way to spend the rest of the day. Guys were out there in ski mask and parkas. Which begs the question, who thinks to bring a ski mask and parka to a beach golf trip in the first place,...LOL G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number
PlaidJacket
I once several years ago played a course in Austin... I believe it was River Hills. At the time they billed it as the hilliest course in Texas. I was with a buddy and they paired us with two women. Both of these lady's had a fist full of bag tags hanging off their bags. Turns out they traveled all over the country playing golf. And they were good! Anyway... at that time I wasn't playing much and spent the entire day hacking it around and loosing balls. In fact I lost every ball in my bag before it was over. Probably 10 balls I'm guessing. The bad part was that on the 18th I rinsed my approach shot which was my last ball in the bag. One of the lady's heard me tell my buddy that it was my last... as I looked over at her she extended her hand an offered me a ball. Kind of embarrassing. Kenny B
To paraphrase Jack Nicklaus... "I don't remember losing any balls." Seriously though, I probably lost a bunch of balls during a round my first 5-6 years of playing golf. That was 25 years ago, and I don't remember how many I lost in any one round. Now I actually never carry more than 6-8 balls in my bag, and only replace them when I get down to 3-4. However, several years ago I did have one round where I lost most of the balls in my bag; not due to bad weather, but on about the third hole on a course that I had never played before, I got the shanks and couldn't shake them. Except for a couple of holes on my home course, those are findable, but at this course, no way! “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
MDGolfHacker
I played in 20* weather... twice!! Softest ball I could find still felt like hitting a rock and every shot hit stung. Nothing held the green so I lost a few balls as well. The first course, Hershey Country Club, Temps started in the low 30s and dropped as the wind picked up. The second course started at 25. Then dropped to 20 after about 2 holes. Started to snow the last 3 holes. Don't recommend doing that though, but it gave me a chance to hang with my brother so I didn't mind... MmmmmmBuddy
about 18 years ago I played a 36 hole tournament at a course in Yakima Washington called Apple Tree. The weather was 45 and blowing 40mph+. It was nearly unbearable. There was a guy in my group that on #7, a 333 yard par 4 with a short pitch over a creek for your second shot, somehow managed to rinse 7 in a row. I had a hard time asking what he took on that hole when we were done... The wind was blowing so hard that on this hole we had to aim in the lake and let the wind blow the ball onto the green.... No easy task. No easy task. Is #7 the hole with water in front and OB behind? I think it is. I played Apple Tree for the first time about 20 years ago in a Pro-Am. I was a bogey golfer at the time. When I got to that hole, I landed my ball on the green, it released, and went off the back. When I got to the green, I saw that my ball rolled down the slope and under a fence OB. I had to go back to the fairway (where the group behind was standing) and play my 4th shot. I proceeded to dunk my shot in the water; hit my 6th on the green and three putted. Why can't I forget that hole?? I like Apple Tree; it's about an hour drive away. This par 3 is a fun hole, but not too crazy about #9. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Poor guy was trying to hit a 40 yard spinner to a super shallow green over a creek, and kept chunking the crap out of it into the water. Hardest thing I have ever witnessed on a course.. I think the lowest 18 hole score shot that day was 79 ( the tournament was filled with VERY good players) I shot 87/91 with an ace on #2... Followed by an 8 on #3 and a 9 on #4. Unbelievable day.. Jonnythec
There no way most of us would of broke a 100 that day. Where I'm from we are use to wind, so it's second nature for us when aiming. I shot a 83 this year in 50k winds no problem. Sent from my iPhone while sitting at the 19th hole.
