GolfBeats iPhone App

Hi Everyone, I wanted to share an iPhone app I've been working on in my free time while holding down a tech job.  For the longest time, I have been looking for something to help me take my game from the practice tee over to the golf course and when I realized most training aids were designed to be used on the range, I decided to build it something I could keep in my pocket in practice rounds. That's how concept for the GolfBeats app started.

 

The app has vibrating cues to help golfers know when to start the next sequence. To use the app, I just open it before I tee off and make a few swings to make sure my swing is in rhythm, then head over to the first tee.

 

If it's a practice round, then I'll keep the app running in my pocket and test out my swing under pressure. Sometimes I notice that my swing gets ahead of the vibrating cues because of the adrenaline/nervousness and the app helps me to be aware of this.

Hoping for some feedback on the product and curious to know what you all think about it!

Sounds interesting, I would definitely try it out if I had a iPhone. Sorry I'm a Android type of guy Make an app for Android and I'll definitely try it.

I don't like playing with a phone in my pocket.  Plus it's what I use to play music through my cart.

I admit that I am cheap and would want to know more before spending $5.   How is this different from something like tour tempo and why do you believe it is for single digit caps.

Cool idea, but this wouldn't work for me as I hate having my phone in my pocket while swinging and the last thing I need is another swing thought

Definitely! Tour Tempo is a cool app, but I wanted something I could test my swing & putting under the gun, particularly in matches against my friends. GolfBeats has no sound (aside from vibrations) so it doesn't distract anyone.

 

I feel like the use case where it is strong is for golfers who practice hard and are frustrated with their efforts not showing up on

the course. Wasn't sure of a clearer way to indicate this than putting down a score and I feel like single digit players will identify with this problem.

Am I able to set the tempos to my swing and Is there any help on how I should time my swing?

You can't set the tempos to your swing because they're preset. There's one for full swing and another for chipping/putting.

Yep there are vibration cues to let you know when to go and I'm working on some training videos covering on the course use cases.

Great idea! But... I am also an Android user plus have the Tour Tempo earpiece.

 

Oh, and sure you're aware - Tour Tempo rhythm based on 3:1 tempo, and they give you several full swing tones plus separate short game tones.
