Have you done any high polish torched ones. How about some carbon steel polished and torched. I really need to order some blanks, and then spend more money at harbor freight.

About $13...

I have done polish torch finish on putters, and also torched a lot of carbon steel putters. Haven't tried that with the markers yet...

I'm gonna bag this marker and rep my "shop". @shankster had a great idea - I might make a few of these with website/contact info on the back, and start accidentally "leaving them" around the local courses I play...

The judge and Aliens really have me intrigued. How long have you guys been doing this? How much practice before you got good? Aliens, with the torching, was it just trial and error? Do I need to put something on the surface afterward to make the color stay or save the finish?

I've been doing putters for years - copper ball markers just a few months.

It definitely takes awhile to get a feel for how to lay one of these out and make everything fit...

The torched colors stay vibrant if you display them, and slow the natural 'patina' process. If you use them, they get so much more wear than a putter, that the color doesn't stay long. It's still there if you look closely in the sun, but the high spots get shiny, and the low spots darken.

I haven't tried to clear coat one or anything - not sure how it would last, and I really like the way they change with time and usage - they are a little bit different each time you use them!
