My need to tinker has grown... I've moved past putters and started making ball markers. Just a 1 1/4" copper slug, 1/8" thick, stamped with all sorts of fun stuff, and torched for interesting color.

Not to brag on myself, but this is getting addictive! A couple of guys have PM'd with questions, so I thought I'd share a couple more of my creations so far, just to show some possibilities.

I want to give that a try. I don't have any stamps so my first one will probably cost me over $100!!

Aside from getting the slugs, you probably have everything you would need to make them!

You do a really nice job of stamping... me, not so much. It's hard for me to swing the hammer with confidence... especially at a putter worth a couple hundred that I have a few hours of work into already.

I've been looking too, pay attention to the thickness, most of the 'craft' ones are really thin (like 24 gauge)

For a ball marker, might want something a little thicker

You're inspiring me.

What are you using for stamps?  I'm thinking that would be a great thing to put on my birthday list.

I have accumulated too many (getting to be like golf clubs)...

I have a full set (letters, numbers, and characters) in 3/32", 1/8", 3/16", 1/4", and then a few oddball stamps (golf green, skull, smiley face, etc.)

I have found that 3/32 and 1/8 are my go-to's. Anything bigger is too big to fit much on a 1 1/4" disc. Anything smaller is hard to read without grandpa's reading glasses!

Sets on Amazon seem pretty reasonable for the letters and numbers.  Where did you find the bomb, smiley, golf green ones?

eBay - all pretty cheap.

I haven't been able to find a cherry bomb - that was a sad attempt to stamp a circle, a small D, and a bunch of dots.... then land an F in the middle. Not my best result, but practice might help!
