Newbie question: Trading in equipment

Recommended Posts

Looking to buy new hybrids - does it make sense to go to a big box store like Golf Galaxy and trade in my old hybrids (ping g20) or trying to sell them outright. FYI I'm a leftie so much smaller market

I don't sell my old stuff. Not worth the price or my time. If anything I'll donate from time to time to a Jr. program or boys club ,etc. Sometimes give to a friend or swap.

My Sun Mountain bag currently includes:   TWGTLogo2.png.06c802075f4d211691d88895b3f34b75.png 771CSI 5i - PW and TWGTLogo2.png.06c802075f4d211691d88895b3f34b75.png PFC Micro Tour-c 52°, 56°, 60 wedges

I've sold a ton of stuff on ebay over the years however recently I became impatient and traded in a bunch of stuff on a new driver.   Once the dust settled I paid $72.00 bucks for my new Callaway Fusion driver.   The previous posters are correct with saying you make much more selling on ebay etc. however you do what you are comfortable with.

Price them out via the PGA value guide. Then do a quick eBay search and see what they are selling for. If there is a huge difference, which usually happens with newer stuff go with that. I usually trade in online and get a credit unless I know I can sell it quick.

Wow a big thanks - didn't know this site (pga value guide) existed! This forum is paying off already!

I sell everything that leaves the bag! I go to PGA value guide to get an idea of resale vs trade, and then I search Ebay for the product I'm selling, filtering the search by selecting "completed items". You can get a great idea of what things are going for in the category. Keep in-mind, though, that eBay and PayPal collect 13% from your sales price. If u sell it for $100, you'll get your $100, but next month your bill to eBay will be $13. If the price after fees isn't all that much better than trade value, I just trade the clubs.

I've had great success selling on eBay.
