Flightscope Mevo

Color me intrigued by a $500 launch monitor from Flightscope.

It's a multisport monitor and looks to be portable.  I would assuming this is coming after the Voice Caddie SC200/300 crowd more than the Skytrack crowd, but hopefully we will get more info as it gets closer to launch.

The bigger question is how much are the magnetic dots and how long do they last.

$25 for a pack, but the website doesn't say how many come in a pack.

As for how long they last I've found a few conflicting reviews on a quick internet search.  Most people say they never peel off and last longer than the ball does.  Then some say they start to get wonky spin rates after a while like the reflectivity isn't working any more.  I'm guessing it all depends on how the sticker impacts whatever screen or net you are hitting in to.

That's not bad, I don't know if I'd use them cause I would want this more for the range but still reasonable

I can see its potential for recreational use, but it shouldn't be confused with a professional fitting tool - which it ain't. I'm sure they will sell quite a few units for the suggested $500 price point, but it's also important to remember you're probably getting what you pay for. Cue thousands of weekend warriors more interested in spin than other other piece of data......

Skytrak was apple only when it launched too, I'm sure support for other platforms will come.

I need more info though. If this could be tied in to simulator software I'm interested. If it's just a more accurate SC200 then I'll pass.

Still waiting for the affordable indoor launch monitor that let's you simulate the driving range or course play.  Don't need over the top analytics (i.e., club fitting data), in fact the Mevo provides everything you'd need.

I believe club path, face to path, AoA are the most important ones, at least to know you are hitting the ball how you want to.

But that would require a pricier device, you can't have those fore 500$.

Guessing not yet.  There isn't any directional information displayed.

But someday it will.   If you look at what they have done with the xi and xi+ models (which are the same piece of equipment) where one model shows more info that the other even though the device captures all of the information, I'd be pretty confident that the unit can capture all of the same information as the higher priced model but has it locked down.  So, someday they may unlock that info to a SIM but not until the high-end market won't be affected.

For a driving range experience, you'd have to add horizontal launch angle and side spin rate or spin axis.  The unit tells you how far you hit it, but not where it went.

I have had a SkyTrak for a couple of years.  I can tell most of what I need to know about path and face by the horizontal launch angle and side spin.  The total spin number gives me a great idea of how solid the contact was.

The only thing I wish I had that I don't is angle of attack.

  • 3 weeks later...

So I have been trying to look into this a bit more. Nothing on the interwebs right now as fair as reviews. I emailed the sales guys and they just told me a FAQ would be out later today that was a week or so ago still nothing. For the price I'm at least interested to be able to utilize it at home and at the range to boost my practice sessions. Guess I'll keep my eyes open and let you guys know if I find anything more substantial.
