First Look: LIFT23 Socks

We talked about LIFT23 socks (click here to check out their website) in one of the PGA Show thread - I got a couple more pair in the mail today and wanted to share them with you, as well as some first impressions.

IMG_2555.JPG

LIFT23 has a small tabletop booth at the show (Kentwool in the past would have a larger booth displaying all kinds of socks, but the company was one of many choosing not to exhibit at the show this year).  They had their standard golf sock on display - the men's socks come in black & gray, white & gray or white and black, and sell on their website for $15.95 per pair - compare that to Kentwool's Tour Profile golf socks at $19.95 per pair (but in a TON of different colors).

IMG_2556.JPG

I do like the fact LIFT23 will donate socks to veterans groups and homeless services - as good a reason as any to buy them.

IMG_2557.JPG

Biggest differences I can see are in overall thickness - the LIFT23's are noticeably thinner than the Kentwools, and have a slightly different fabric makeup. Both brands use Merino wool blends, but LIFT23 uses 33% Merino Wool, 33% acrylic, 25% nylon, 6% polyester and 3% Elastane.

IMG_2558.JPG

Kentwool, on the other hand, are 58% Merino Wool, 29% nylon, 9% Cacona Polyester and 2% spandex. What does all that mean? No idea whatsoever. LITF23's website says the blend "literally LIFT moisture away from your foot."

IMG_2560.JPG

Not sure what the thickness issue means while walking on the course. I've never had blister problems with Kentwools - we'll see about the LIFTs.

It being February in Minnesota, I haven't worn the LIFT23's for golf yet - but I have worn the athletic socks to the gym for several sessions on the elliptical machine - very comfortable and they're nice and snug around the arch.

They gave my daughter a pair to try - and she was pretty adamant that they were the best socks she's ever worn - but then again, I always bought the cheapest socks I could find for her while she was growing up. We won't even get into the winter coat shopping at Goodwill. That didn't go over well...

IMG_2561.JPG

The longer socks are their Snow and Ski sock - in thickness they're about the same as Kentwool's compression socks, which I LOVE for flying, trade shows and for walking rounds in spring and fall.  Haven't tried the LIFT23 version yet, but will see how they perform when it comes to dog walking. As long as they serve the basic function of a sock - being a buffer between shoe and foot - it'll be one point in the plus column.

They do have another line of socks coming out this spring - they had them on display - but would only say they're a little thinner, most likely made for runners.

Giving your daughter a pair was a classy move! I just find it hard to drop $16.00 on a pair of socks when I can get 12 pair for $10.00

Lotta people say that - I know I did for years, until I tried some Kentwools. As I've gotten older, I'm valuing socks, shoes and underwear much more than I did when I was younger. I'm in the process of rotating out the older stuff and replacing it with Kentwools and maybe some LIFT23s. Compression socks are important to me for air travel and training, since I'm on my feet all day - and staying comfortable while walking Crystal Lake or Stonebrooke is always important! ;-)

As I still have underwear from the mid-80's, it may take a little while to rotate those out - but I've become a  Tommy John fan, preferring those to 2UNDR (although the Joey pouch is, uhh, enjoyable...).

It's like heating systems, cars, furniture or anything else you can think of - there's a value to comfort, but it varies from person to person.

Perhaps I'll bite the bullet and give a pair a shot. Problem is if they are that great ill have to get more to match!

I'm at about the same point as Barbajo; I'm rotating out socks.  Kentwools are the only socks I wear now while playing golf.  I've even bought some of the thinner 19th Hole Kentwools to wear when I don't play.  If you get on their mailing list, they have specials.  At Christmas they had some for $10 a pair.  I love the colors too.

I'm sure the Lift23 socks would be fine, but I don't see myself changing anytime soon.

Good looking socks and I would shell out $15.00 clams for a 3 pack but not for one pair.

I must have abnormal feet. For me a sock is a sock is a sock. I tried some brand of expensive socks once. Never again. I buy moisture wicking socks at Target that are great. And at a fraction of the cost of boutique socks. Carry on.

I buy Hanes at Walmart 4 for about 12. They're better than the Nike, Oakley, foot joys at twice the price.

I'll let LIFT know. They'll be disappointed.

Nicely put. Yup, can't knock out Salvation Army or Goodwill I definitely found some good deals on golf equipment and clothing back in the day. And, after reading and posting a thread on best socks recommendations for blistering feet while golfing, I was introduced to Kentwool and by far best socks and definitely worth the price you pay for them. Sometimes they have some great sales too.

  • 2 weeks later...

In the winter, I prefer a nice wicking sock. One that really soaks up the kerosene well, so they burn a long time as I have found that is the only way to truly warm my feet.
