Random M1 Post

Recommended Posts

Got bored at work today and decided to play around with the weights on the new M1. Thankfully Taylormade made the 2017 M1 significantly easier to move the weights onto the different rails of the club. This allows for both weights to be placed on the front (draw/fade) or back (high/low) tracks. With a few M1 heads kicking around I decided to fill both tracks with 4 weights (see pic below).

The shaft in the driver I was using for this was a 65gram shaft, by no means an overly heavy shaft, but the feeling of having an added 72 grams of weight into the head brought back memories of weighted head training clubs. Out of curiosity I threw it into a swignweight scale and, to no surprise at all, it maxed out the scale (pic below). The scale maxes out at G8, so I would put a guess that the weight ended up around I8 or as high as J2.

Obviously this would be an illegal driver with this much weight in the head, but for fun I decided to give it a swing. Now using a typical club I would usually hit a driver around 280-285, but this much weight made it so tough to swing I couldn't make a comfortable swing that got over 210.

Hope to get some feedback about any other "unique" weighting experiments that others have tried.

very cool, fun to play around with that stuff.  I have the 2016 M1, would it still be conforming to move both weights to the front or back?

I've got an M1 2016 and moved both weights to the back of the sole and it feels and plays close to an M2.
