Pics from the course

Loved that course and the story. I think that's the site of my negative yard shot. The ball rolled down the cartpath of a par 3, if not for my buddy kicking it, I'd be either in a lake or still rolling today.

I think that course is really pretty and a tough challenge.

Today. Best approach into a narrow bunkered green. 247 yards out into a slight wind. And hit a nice smooth 6 iron. Using a kirkland

That's a monster 6 iron ha

A few pics I took while farting around this morning

This is showing the slope on a few of our greens :

IMG_2006.JPG

IMG_2007.JPG

Looking back to the fairway:

IMG_2010.JPG

Par 3 # 16 has the flattest green on the course however don't let it fool ya! It will beat ya like a red headed step child with a hog back and the bermuda greens.

IMG_2016.JPG

Approach shot on 18 is uphill to say the least

IMG_2017.JPG

And another green pic... They had a tournament today and they had pre rolled them suckers. They were faster than a country boy stealing a water melon from a pissed off farmer!

IMG_2008.JPG

It's a fun golf course and rated 4 stars on golf now. The only reason it's not 5 is the negative comments about slow play due to players loving the course. Everybody wants to play Lane Creek !

Hopefully some of you MGS'ers will come see us 🏌️

Oh and the par three 16 approach from the white tees was up by the senior tees today.

That is awesome old grey.It looks like you are playing the upper tees as well.My game has been revitalized moving from the black to white - senior. The 50 or more tee differential is from hitting a hybrid 2nd vs a 7 iron or less. For me that is golf.Hitting a long approach all day after a good drive just isn't fun anymore. If it wasn't for upper tees I'm sure I would've given up playing golf and just hit range balls

I'm shooting mid to low 70 golf. But the back tees make it too demanding

Keep it in the short stuff

Absolutely us old guys need a break and like you say it's more fun playing the proper tees... On our course the green tees are designated for seniors and the white tees are called member tees. I play the whites and sometimes a few holes (white markers) are combined with the senior tees during winter time. Today that particular par three in the pic had the white tee moved way up to the front.

This isn't from today. But from the villa we stayed in last week at Reunion Resort in Orlando.

This is the 13th green on the Watson course. Literally a 50 yard wedge shot from out patio.

We had some down time and sat out enjoying watching groups come through and betting if they would hit the green or make putts.

Ultimate Demo Day or something like that, back in the day?

Our original schedule didn't call for any time to play golf, so I didn't take the clubs.  Then I found out there was time one morning that I could have played.  Pretty disappoited in that, the feedback I heard from the guys that played the Nicklaus course, is that it was a tough one.

Yep it was at a demo weekend a few years back.  We played all the courses at Reunion and no doubt they're good tracks.

A couple buddies and I decided to play a 1960 course with very tiny greens today. The Abbey at St. Leo University, about 5,600 yards. Winds swirling with 25-30 mph gusts. We had a lot of fun, I shot 42/42:84, they shot 86 and 88. Here's a few pics....

It's a very sunny day.

So I just got back from a trip to Cali. I had never been west of Vegas and quite frankly never got why people loved LA so much. That was all before this trip as I was blessed to be able to play out at Pete Dye's stadium course at PGA West. I understand now....

The Colorado front range treated us to incredible weather yesterday; 70 degrees, big blue skies and zero wind. I'm heading out for another full loop today.

IMG_1375.JPG

Soil temperature is still too chilly to start mowing greens so I'd describe the pace as a meandering 4 on the stimp but on the plus side we are off permanent winter hole locations!

Has a great day on the course today.

Picked out a house for Barbajo to look at for wintering in Florida when he's here in a few weeks. I think it's in his price range.

Made a great par on 10.

Coukdnt handle the 25 mph right to left wind on 16. I thought it was right to left in. It was right to left down. I had 47 yards coming back to the pin down hill toward the pond you see here. Made a great bogey.

Will most likely be my home course this year. Membership is surprisingly affordable and it's near the house.
