Bit of a contrast in style. I'm giving my mate a bit of leeway for the odd shoes, as he broke a to this week, but we couldn't get much further apart. I'm not going to talk about the hat he's wearing IMG_0758.JPGDespite the sunshine, it was a wintery mid 50s, with some heavy showers.

Getting out of the cart on 1 - so much promise as the day starts.

Golf with my friend Dennis is an adventure that never ends. I love playing with him. The bartender called me on 4 to apologize because she didn't realize that the Bloody Mary mix she used already had vodka in it and she poured double shots on top of that. They tasted just fine to me. :)

The obligatory selfie on three.

Here's my tee shot

Great day!!!!

Went to Cherokee NC today and played Sequoyah National. Lots of elevation changes and a really cool course. Shot an 82 with two doubles and a triple yikes! Had a great time though.

Never played there, but I played Hyland Hills down the road many years ago.  I was staying in a hotel nearby and had a day off work.  No clubs, but rented a nice set.  Lots of fun.

Unfortunately, I don't have the computer skills required to take and post pictures of the course I routinely play, the River Marsh in Cambridge, Maryland.  It has some rather picture holes along the Choptank River.    But I do love this thread, because it reminds me how fortunate we are to have many of the venues with which we can play and how beautiful they are.   A baseball diamond is a baseball diamond, a football field is a football field and a tennis court is a tennis court, but a golf course is not just a golf course, its a venture through nature and many times its beauty.   Also, I find it fortunate that I can play in my home state of Virginia and my current residence of Maryland because I have access to both mountain and seaside golf.

Steep and fast green that slopes away from you as you hit your approach shot.  Need to be spot on.  Trouble all around on this one - right/left/back/short....

It was this way on a lot of holes as well.

Yes it is a classic. I miss the old NE courses. The courses were all built years ago not using modern power equipment and had to keep mostly to the topography they had.

I was wearing sunglasses when it started getting dark.  It was a weird flat light, and when I took off the sunglasses, it looked like I was still looking through them.  I just got home and looking at the pic above on #7 hole.  The color is not quite right for a photo taken at that time of day.  It was taken near the end of the eclipse.

Our science teacher ordered special glasses for everyone from second on up. It was a fun experience. I agree about the temp - odd to be standing outside a n Florida at 3 in the afternoon in August and not be melting away.

We were at 80 percent. I know that I have been in places where it was 100 percent twice before in my life. Once in the 60's and once in the 70's.

Played 36 at Bay Creek this past weekend. Course was in great shape and the scenery was spectacular; especially the holes that played along the Chesapeake bay. Pictures I took were horrible; hate camera phone cameras; I can't take a decent picture with them.
