I played the Gold and Emerald courses many years ago - at that time, Emerald was the more highly rated, iirc. I really enjoyed both, though.

The Emerald Course is now the easier of the three courses in my opinion.  Both the Emerald and Blue are relatively short and open with manageable trouble.  The Gold is longer with bunkers galore.  I played relatively well but my score didn't reflect my efforts because I was in the sand on at least 70% of the holes.  I was able to escape the bunkers but not once was I able to save Par settling for a Bogey each time I entered the beach.  The staff is awesome and the pace of play is managed well.  If you ever travel to Maui I highly recommend these three courses over the much more glamorous Plantation Course.

My dad and I played the Bay Course on the same trip. I really wanted to play the Plantation but we had heard some of the forced carries might be a struggle for him. All this was about 18 years ago (Kapalua Village Course was still a thing), so my memory is pretty fuzzy.

I've learnt (unfortunately so late) that when the weather gets miserable, that that is the prime time to go golfing. It's all about the size of the kahunas.

It's a little hidden gem in Halifax. Had a really bad rep for being tight and difficult and over the years they really improved it, but couldn't shake the initial rep so it's never too crowded. Leaves are annoying but the staff does a great job if clearing the greens which helps.
