I love Scotch. It was my go to for years. It got too expensive so, I made the plunge into Bourbon. Now, I love them both. I'm an Islay junky...lol.

I enjoy both actually I delve it at least try to delve into all styles of whiskey

Anyone tried Yuengling's Hershey's Chocolate Porter? I love a good porter, but have been trying to stay away from carbs... Figure it doesn't hurt to talk about it and live vicariously through others...

I haven't tried it yet. I'm not a fan of Yuengling products, but I always try the new stuff in hopes that I will find one I like...lol.

Their Lager isn't bad relative to mainstream domestic lagers. But I hear you. I am completely onboard with trying everything!

Cant beat a transfusion, but it must be made with welches grape juice.  The only issue I have is the two shots per dink.  It can catch up with you on a hot day quite fast.

Most courses look at me like in drunk when I ask for welches in it.

New drink for me on the course this year, Tito's, 7/sprite & a splash of cran. 6 pars on the back 9 for me the other day with this drink and superstitions are real LOL.

Big scotch guy here as well! In fact I’ve been collecting for over 5 years. A big passion of mine. I also love bourbon. 
 

on course I like 2-3 beers. Usually just pack them in my ogio beer sleeve

Two nights ago, same pic that I posted in the What are you smoking thread, I found George T. Stagg on the menu for a not too ridiculous price. I haven’t had George T. In a few years, but both the guy I was with and I didn’t feel it had the same depth that we experienced from previous years (or perhaps it was Stagg Jr. or something else instead). Anyone had the latest George T. release that can confirm?

I love a nice old fashioned at the end of a round. Sipping away sitting on the patio is a lovely way to end the day.

1. I was a single malt scotch drinker for decades until Lagavulin just got too expensive.
2. Bourbon became my drink of choice about 5 years ago, love a good Old Fashioned w Makers 46, but the bourbon premium is getting $ out of hand now too.
3. I think I'm drifting toward Irish Whiskies like Jameson Black Barrel. (Un)fortunately I have a lot of bourbon in the cabinet to get through before I make the switch.
4. I also like Margaritas with Mexican food, and rum drinks when boating, but otherwise I've been a whisk(e)y guy for a LONG time.
5. While playing golf it's usually beer only because it's convenient though Fireball, Bloodies and RTD Bourbon & Ginger Ale have made it into the golf cart cooler from time to time.

@Middler you know if you need help consuming some of that bourbon let me know. Woodford is my usual go to as that's what I can always find and I like it a little bit more than Makers. I agree with you that the premiums for bourbons are going nuts for some reason. I get it for Blanton's or Angel's Envy or other ghost bottles. But you can't ever find Buffalo Trace! And Weller, any Weller, is only occasionally in Ohio. 

Side note, I was talking to the guy at the local state store, and all that hard to get stuff is release day items. The shipments are posted to a site (OHLQ.com) at like 3AM on Saturday mornings, and they have people lining up in the parking lot by 4. And they don't open till 9. The "good stuff" is gone by 9:15. Not worth it, I'll stick to what's on the shelf.

Started stockpiling bottles of scotch around 15 years ago.  My thoughts at the time was the decrease in water quality which could potentially impact the taste.

While I have not purchased a bottle in over 5 years I still have close to 200 bottles in my collection.  My preference is smoke and peat profiles.  My favourite distilleries are Ardbeg and Laphroaig.  When I would find a bottle I really liked I would purchase 12+ at times, especially limited releases.

Glad I purchased the bottles when I did at a much lower price.  Could not justify the cost to enjoyment ratio today of many of my favourites.

The only time you’ll get a flavor change in a whiskey is if the bottle is under half full. It’s not like wine where it changes in the bottle. Ardbeg is a go to of mine when sitting at a campfire the peat just goes so well with campfire

I agree above you need to finish the last half of the bottle a little quicker.  The age of when bottled does make a difference.

What I was referring to was the amount of older juice than stated which was added for a better flavour profile.  This ended once demand for scotch stated increasing.  For a number of years scotch was not very popular among the regular populous which lead to lower stock levels at distilleries.  When market was low more aged product made it into aged stated bottles to increase sales.  Demand started to increase due to demand of luxury goods (including scotch) in the asian market.  Pandemic demand went crazy for any liquor and no need to add anything past the stated age.

A friend of mine purchased a bottle of Glenmorangie and when I stopped by his house a week later I brought a bottle I purchased thirteen+ years ago.  Tasted the new version against the old and not even close.  I have one more of these bottles I plan on gifting it on his birthday.

One of my favourite bottles is Laphroaig Quarter Cask.  If I am going to swill a bottle in one night I pull a more recent bottle from around 5 years ago.  When I want a dram to really enjoy I open a much older bottle.  This scenario has played out many times.

angels envy rye finished in rum barrels. 100 proof, very smooth and flavorful on the palate but with a little kick on the swallow. I got a bottle for $70 which seems like a bargain. Excellent out of a flask. can’t go wrong with angels envy in general, but their special releases are worth seeking out.
