SPY VIP GolfSpyC Posted March 10, 2017 SPY VIP Share Posted March 10, 2017 The more exposure he gets the more this is going to happen. It has to be a bit of a tough position to be in b/c he probably knows he can't keep this up forever and he needs to make $$$ while he can - But you also start to lose credibility with anyone who cares about objectivity. I happen to be someone who cares.

sixcat
My wife was a marketing major at Virginia Tech. She speaks often of an elderly gentleman she interned with between her junior and senior year. He was greatly influential on her professional career. He would often say "rebranded, repackaged, regurgitated s***, as long as people keep buying it, people will keep trying it". oldschnor
His first show's guest from Bayhill was Jim McMahon. He came out at night with sunglasses and bare feet. I thought: What am I going to learn from this? I turned it off and haven't watched since. Can't take him seriously. hckymeyer
Would I turn down a free lesson from him? No But after his response to the Kirkland ball and now coming out with this I am firmly putting him in the same camp as Haney. Nothing against trying to make a buck but you can't have it both ways. Either you're out to shill for whatever company will pay you or you remain objective and I'll actually listen to your opinion. That's why I love MGS, they remain the latter. cathat72
Not surprised at all. Has to cash in while he can. How many Food Network people have their own line of cooking crap? StrokerAce
sad, sad demise. seems like someone either offered him A LOT of money or he doesn't care too much about protecting his name. And in golf circles your name is golden. personally, I like Martin Hall more anyway. I think Breed is a bit pompous; I will admit I used to watch him quite a bit but, just like the crap he's putting his name all over, his tips were becoming "regurgitated". J.B. TexasEx
Speaking of golf training devices, has anybody tried the Orange Whip? If so, what's your opinion? JSDrums
Personally I'd much rather have my source of income be based on teaching golf, hosting a successful television show, and allowing people to pay me just to put my name on a product than any standard 9-5. I honestly don't even like the guy or his show and find the way he pronounces golf "galf" as soothing as nails to a chalkboard. He seems to be making a good living off his golf related endeavors though, can't hate on a guy that works hard and gets paid to hit "galf" balls into a launch monitor on national television. If someone came to me and said "Will you allow us to pay you $X,XXX,XXX to put your name on alignment aids and various other training aids that will get used once, put in the corner of the garage and eventually get donated to Goodwill?" Hell yes! Love reading all of the opinions of this subject, we will know the true answer to this question when Breed also fails to fix Charles Barkley's swing. Happy Spring everyone! opsimpson
Breed will never be Haney from an instructional stand point. However, he has to strike while the iron is hot. I cannot take anything away from him for doing it. I thoroughly enjoy the fact Peyton Manning does just about anything it seems. Jurassical1
From a device standpoint, I think Breed might well have already become the new Hank Haney. From a teaching standpoint, I hope Mike Malaska becomes as well known and followed as Hank. Perhaps the number of back surgeries and injuries on tour and elsewhere will then be reduced. Just my two cents.
