hckymeyer
First some ground rules... - Club must have been purchased for full retail price - Club must have been purchased new - If you had gift cards it doesn't count - If you traded in clubs it doesn't count - If you got it as a gift it doesn't count I just want to know what is the last time you purchased a new club for full retail and paid for it out of pocket without any gifties or trade in credit. Also how long ago was it? For me it was a Taylormade R11 when it first came out. Got fitted for that with a purple Oban Kiyoshi and bought it for full price from the fitter. DawgDaddy
2009 right after I retired, bought a new set of Mizuno MX-300s. I was fit for them and then the components were sent to the builder, I watched him put them together. Shafts pured, lies adjusted and grips given extra warps of tape. Expensive but I hit those clubs well. Least game improvement ever in a game improvement iron. I loved them but have moved on since. I now buy used and have them adjusted. evershady
I'm thinking 2012 when i got my I20's bought them on clubhouse credit hoping to win some member tournaments to help pay for them. I thought I had to have the paid off by a certain time and payed them off. Then won enough in club house cash to buy an Anser 3w and a Ping stand bag. cksurfdude
Yes. As a tried and true and time-tested budget & sale shopper (for everything!), I have to admit I did have a weak moment of irresistible impulse last year - grabbed a Ping G Crossover off the rack at a PGATSS. But .. in my defense .. it was after reading MGS member reviews about it Had a gap between my 6i and 4 hybrid, couldn't buy a good hit with the 5i, and convinced myself this was *THE* right tool for the job. BIG STU
I never have period. Either my old man was on staff somewhere or I was. The only brand new set I ever had was a set of Custom Spalding Elite MV-2s back in the 70s. Now I did pay for them and had them built from the Custom Shop to my specs but got them at cost through the old man. They were stolen along with the 69 Corvette they were in back in 75. Never recovered either. I do a second take sometimes when scrounging the thrifts and the piles at work. The guy who owns the Old Club Store in North Myrtle knows to call me when a set of 71 thru 74 Elites turn up.I know the serial numbers by heart. My train of thought is that I recovered my putter after 5 years from the lake I threw it in. Who knows I may get those back even they were stolen 150 miles away 40 odd years ago. Sorry got off the main subject I do a lot of trading and club work that is why I have sorta new stuff in my bag now. I just can not justify paying $500 for a driver or putter when I do not play comp or big money matches anymore. I guess it is ok by me if others choose to do so however Driver ---- Callaway Big Bertha Alpha Speeder 565 R flex- 5W TM V-Steel Fubuki 60r--- 7W TM V-Steel UST Pro Force Gold 65R----- 9 W TM V Steel TM MAS stiff---- Irons 2015 TM TP CB Steel Fiber 95 R--- GW Callaway Mack Daddy 2 52* shaft unknown junk pile refugee. BIG STU
This thread is really making me wonder who the hell is buying all the clubs new for all of us to buy used and get deals??? Go over on WRX and look in the members WITB threads and you will have your answers. If I had the money to spend like some of those guys do I would be retired already. Also look on the putter threads too. But like I said in my previous post "Whatever floats their boat" I have no problem with it and besides it ain't none of my business how they make or spend their money. Big money
Bought new Callaway apex irons this past fall. And also purchased a krank driver.Did well with the krank in the simulators during fitting .But on the course I seem to be 10 to 15 yards shorter than my previous driver. My speed is 101 avg and aoa is 2 degrees up.Sorry i forgot spin and my smash factor. This will give me my normal 235 to 240 carry with my speed. The krank only carries 220 or so what I observed on course Keep it in the short stuff
