mnfats95
Has anyone out there played these grips? https://www.golfpride.com/grips/cp2-pro-cp2-wrap/ I love a soft grip and these claim to be soft. I've held them in store and they certainly feel softer than most of GP's other offerings. Curious if you've had them how well they held up and if you have any other soft grips to compare them to? Thanks in advance for any information you can provide. "I'd play a ladies set of clubs if it allowed me to break par." PlaidJacket
I've been playing the CP2 wrap for the past couple of years. In fact, just re-griped about 1.5 weeks ago. I personally don't think these grips are soft. Perhaps a medium feel? Not hard... that's for sure. Soft to me are Winn grips. At least the ones I tried for a week a few years ago. Hated them. Like sponges. I also like the reduced taper of the CP2. MGoBlue100
I tried a midsize version of these on my wedges a couple seasons ago. The midsize experiment didn't work, but I liked the grips. Agree with Plaid; they are not what I would consider "soft" like some of the Winn grips. More of a medium / firm feel. "Where'd it go?" "Right in the Lumberyard..." JudgeSmails
those guys are correct about the softness, I have played DriTacs for years, those are what I would call soft......these are very tacky though Driver: TR20 10.5* Hybrids: Epic SuperHybrid 3 18* Epic 4h 23* Irons: JPX900 Hot Metal 5-GW Wedges: CBX2 52* 56* 60* Putter: EV8 Ball: Tour BXS
mnfats95
Any reason you guys prefer the wrap version or the other? "I'd play a ladies set of clubs if it allowed me to break par." PlaidJacket
Any reason you guys prefer the wrap version or the other? I can't say there is one particular reason I use the wrap vs. non-wrap style. I suppose I'm just partial to a wrap style of grip. For many years I used the the basic Golf Pride Tour Wrap grips and liked them also. They are less expensive and I still wouldn't hesitate to use them again. I'll also note that Golf Pride touts the Control Core in the butt in of the CP2 grips. which GP claims reduces torque. Perhaps. It's not something I can say I've noticed over another grip without Control Core technology. What the Control Core looks like is an extra thick layer of some type of compound inside the grip which extends from the butt cap downwards about 1.5-2 inches. It's not a solid plug of any type. Anyway... I recommend the CP2 as a good feeling high quality grip. PMookie
I tried them because they were advertised as "tacky"... They were not tacky. One bead of sweat in the 90% humidity and 100* temps here in the summer made these grips slick. I took them off my clubs after one round. mnfats95
So I looked at these more closely in store. You are correct, there isn't much give in the standard size. I am looking at the Jumbos and those do have a quite a bit of give. Still not as soft as a Winn, but they do have cushion to them in the bigger size. chershey
Has anyone that's used the CP2 ever tested to see if you can screw in tags, to the hole on the end, for tracking or swing analysis. I use GameGolf tags to track my rounds and I've stayed away from the CP2 because it doesn't look like you could screw anything into to the plastic looking piece that's on the end of the grip. Let me know if someone has tried it and had success. OEM Kevin
Pretty sure I used the GameGolf tags with my CP2's back when I actually use the GG stuff. But I might be confusing my grips/iron sets too. As far as these grips are concerned these are my favorite grips by far. Soon as my stock grips wear out and I have not already sold the clubs I regrip with these. I have had zero issue with heat, humidity or slippage.
