BigtazzGolf
Hey yall, curious what is your best time during the year to score your usual best rounds? I've come to realize for me my best is winter/spring. I think I do my best during this time because it is cooler and the greens are usually soft compared to during the summer months. It has also been said to me that with the extra clothes it restricts my swing some, this causes me to have a more compact in control type swing. Lol who knows. Bottom line I do score better this time of year Tazz Grip n Rip it Grip n Rip it Chicks dig the LONG ball In my staff bag King F7+ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro White 60 - Graphite Tour X-Stiff CBX 13.5 3 Wood Atomic Irons 4-AW (reviewing) CG16 Satin 52* 588 RTX 2.0 56* and 60* Sentio Sierra 101-M Putter Proud tester of the Tommy Armour ATOMIC Irons
Kenny B
Summer/Fall - Winter is no good because I have too many clothes and it restricts my swing. I play OK, just no distance. In the spring it's usually quite windy. Even though temperatures can get up to 110* in the summer, it's a dry heat. Fairways are hard and fast, which is good for me. Fall is just the right temperature, and my game is at it's peak from lots of rounds. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Liberty Ball Markers
I think spring for me. Playing in crap winter weather is like running with a parachute tied your waist. Once the grass starts growing, the crew starts mowing, and 3 layers of clothing come off, it's a different game. revkev
For me it's almost always the fall October/November. Courses are generally in good shape after the aeration. Bermuda rough has turned dormant and isn't so thick. Its dried out a bit so distance is up through the bag without being out of control. Ive been in a nice rythm of playing/practicing and the groove stays in place until I get busy with Advent/Christmas stuff in December. hckymeyer
It's a shorter golf season up here so I don't have as many options. I need to get some rounds in to shake the winter rust off and warmer weather with less layers is a big plus. So June - Sept is pretty much my peak season. GolfSpy Barbajo
For Some reason I usually have a stretch in July/August when I think "man, I finally have this game down" and play really well with all 4 parts of the game working. gaussman1
Early fall every year. Would like to think it's because I finally pull it all together but in reality I think it's Midwest course conditions get easier. The rough is thinned out from the summer heat while the greens are still at good speed and holding shots better than mid summer. silver & black
Usually late Spring for me. As the season progresses, all the bad habits creep back in...lol. I love Fall..... favorite time of the year, but it isn't too kind to me on the golf course. I lose a lot of balls that I/we know are right there, but you can't find them because of the leaves and/or the sun angle that time of year. chisag
For Some reason I usually have a stretch in July/August when I think "man, I finally have this game down" and play really well with all 4 parts of the game working. ... This reminds of a Bob Murphy story. Said he was really struggling with swing thoughts and got so disgusted he decided to forget everything, skipped his practice rounds and just teed it up Thursday with the only thought "hit the ball" and he won that week. It worked so well he did it agin the next week winning for the second week in a row and said he would never have swing thoughts again and had found the secret. The next week at 10 over the cut on Friday he didn't know how to take the club back let along hit the ball very well. I love his quote and use it often "the golf swing is not something that you own. You just borrow it for short periods of time". ... Like many others here that live up North, my lowest rounds are played in August September after a nice 4 month warm up. Unless I go on an extended vacation like last year playing 30 days in a row twice. After about 2 weeks optimal scoring is always a possibility. Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... dadivots
Early Spring and Fall. There's something to what was said about getting out in the spring and just trying to put a good swing on it. Wedges get the work in the Spring. Summer was always a work at it thing; thats when the ball is flying best and those 4-5 stokes you left out there for being in the wrong position, the errant 100 yards in, or that missed 10 footer get the attention. Fall; around here Ive found thats when everyone buckles down. End of season is in sight and you bring what you got because playing gets all time you got, and the range is a ghost town. Trust it and play the game with a little more umph in the fall...
Shankster
First few months. Scoot24
Late August. In the early season I'm inconsistent. Then in the peak season I begin to think too much and as July and early August progress things start to fall apart to a point where I then just forget about figuring it out and just go out and hit the ball. This is the point I have always shot my best rounds. My swing is in mid-season form and my head isn't affecting me. Damn this game is so mental!
