I don't wear either. I golf in trail running shoes :).  More comfort, less weight, better than average grip.

There was a time a few years back that I was considering this idea. Wearing those metal spikes have always caused my feet to hurt and burn after a round.  I was soooooo glad when they came out with the nubs on the bottom. No burning post round now days.

I did that years ago before spikeless shoes came on the scene.  They are certainly comfy, but I tended to break out the sides.  I guess I needed more lateral support, but that was before my swing change.  They might work better now.

Hate to admit it, but I have to agree with Dru ;-)

Some of my best rounds were played with tennis shoes and even Vans

I'm spikeless all the way, but I also walk 75% of the time. I just picked up a pair of the Adidas Adipower Sport Boost 3 and they are oh so comfy.

Is it to late to start a campaign to bring metal spikes back?

The cool sound factor far exceeds any spikeless shoe

I played a million games of baseball when I was young; the sound of spikes on the concrete always meant it was go time. Same with golf spikes. I can still hear that sound...

Keep in mind, I run in a VERY wide toe box, barefoot style shoe.

I actually have two different soles that I use based upon conditions.  If it's going to be soft out, I use

I've been a spikeless guy the past 5 years at least. Primarily, Puma, Ecco, Nike  and FootJoy.

The best have been Puma-Monolite and now the Ignite, and Sport

Next best were Nike Lunar, was my everyday shoe, on and off the course for over a year.

Eccos were good and bad, Biom hybrds were great, anything else has been disappointing

FootJoy, Pro/SL are very comfy!

  • 4 weeks later...

Alright, I have Puma's with spikes.. I live the Seattle area.. Half the year i need Flippers.. But anyhow..

The absolute best is to golf barefoot.. Only real problem is broken tees.. you would not believe how much better your balance gets.. and getting the feel for the green.. until too many drinks..

There is a resort up here that has 9 hole right on the Columbia river that get sun most of the year.. NO shoes No shirt No problem.. they even let you take your own Refreshments, anything you want and as much as you want..

the sun, golf, lots of beverages.. and not really a  dress code..   ;)     I'm in ALL summer long..

I have been spikeless for about 7 or 8 years, at my age I can safely say I will never buy another pair of changeable spiked shoes again.
