Badfish
For me it depends on a couple things. First would be the length of the hole. A long iron I will use a tee nearly 100% of the time. Second would be the softness of the tee box. I play a lot of public courses that late in the season get increasingly firm. Hard ground I'm using a tee. Soft tee box on a short hole I'll play it off the ground 80% of the time. 808nation
I use a tee. Basically you only have 18 opportunities to use a tee. Sent from my SM-G930V using MyGolfSpy mobile app You mean you can't tee it up on par 5's on the second shot?....jk. To each is own, but personally I would a tee. Interesting thing is you have to find the right height to tee it because if you tee it high you might it get underneath it and come up short and if you tee it too low, you could hit it fat or top it. Rtracymog
I rarely ever use a tee on a par three. If the ground is really torn up or I need to hit about 5 yards farther than normal, I'll tee it up. I just like to hit that shot like I would off the fairway. EthanSterlingPrice
I tee the ball just enough to get a perfect lie. MDGolfHacker
I forgot if I read it somewhere or someone told me, but I read/was told to always tee it up since you can get a perfect lie out of it everytime! Of course if you are having a great time on that "liquid diet" during the round and aren't quite paying attention to putting that peg in the ground, all sorts of weird things can happen! GolfSpy_APH
I've honestly done both. I do find if I'm playing a long par 3 and may want to hit it high and land soft I'll use a tee, however most shorter par 3s I find a good spot on the grass to use. As I've said I've used both methods and could really say I've seen too much of a difference between the two.
