For me it depends on a couple things.  First would be the length of the hole.  A long iron I will use a tee nearly 100% of the time.  Second would be the softness of the tee box.  I play a lot of public courses that late in the season get increasingly firm.  Hard ground I'm using a tee.  Soft tee box on a short hole I'll play it off the ground 80% of the time.

I use a tee. Basically you only have 18 opportunities to use a tee.

You mean you can't tee it up on par 5's on the second shot?....jk. To each is own, but personally I would a tee. Interesting thing is you have to find the right height to tee it because if you tee it high you might it get underneath it and come up short and if you tee it too low, you could hit it fat or top it.

I rarely ever use a tee on a par three. If the ground is really torn up or I need to hit about 5 yards farther than normal, I'll tee it up. I just like to hit that shot like I would off the fairway.

I tee the ball just enough to get a perfect lie. It works for me but I also know a fella who never uses a tee for irons and does pretty well so to each their own.

Tee for me, please! I used to not tee it up until I saw Jack Nicklaus say he always did. If it's good enough for him, then it's good enough for me!

I forgot if I read it somewhere or someone told me, but I read/was told to always tee it up since you can get a perfect lie out of it everytime! ;) Of course if you are having a great time on that "liquid diet" during the round and aren't quite paying attention to putting that peg in the ground, all sorts of weird things can happen!

Always use a tee, usually set very low but, always use it.  To me it is crazy not to.

I always use a used tee. I walk up and do a quick search of the tee box for the shortest broken tee I can find an use it.

At my home course I use a tee in the fall and winter (no fluffiness) but in the late spring and summer I don't. Why change muscle memory?

Used to tee it up every chance I get, but I don't do that anymore and usually just find a good lie and let it rip.

You know one thing some of my playing buddies do that drives me nuts? They just plop it down in the teeing ground and play it as it lies. Why wouldn't you spend a few extra seconds setting up a good lie?

One of my friends just rolls it when he parks and is walking towards the markers. If it lands in between the markers and not too far back that's where he hits from

These are the same people that just stick their clubs in the bag wherever with no rhyme or reason.

Do you even organize bro???

I've honestly done both. I do find if I'm playing a long par 3 and may want to hit it high and land soft I'll use a tee, however most shorter par 3s I find a good spot on the grass to use. As I've said I've used both methods and could really say I've seen too much of a difference between the two.

Always use a tee. It is the one time that you can create your own lie and angle so why not take advantage of that?

This, exactly this. I was taught that very early.
