Ever have a club that you demoed and couldn't get out of you head. That's what happened to me with these irons. After trying the demo P770 on five different occasions, I had to pull the trigger on a pre-order. They gave me better feel and dispersion than my Ping iblades, or anything else for that matter. After finding out that Taylormade offers 15% off to veterans, I couldn't resist. I only ordered 5-PW which is all I normally play in the my irons.

 

Taylormade was one of those companies I swore I wouldn't play because they didn't support unbiased testing but when something performs I think you just need to suck it up and play what's best for your game. I am also impressed that they offer a 15% discount to military and veterans. I wonder if anyone else offers the same.

That's awesome that they offer a discount for vets - you've certainly earned it!

 

Like you, never been a real big TaylorMade fan - can't hit their drivers to save my life, and I know it's completely mental! - but I really like the looks of the 770's and I like the approach they're taking with the 750's - total custom and made to order. 

 

Make sure to post some pics when you get them! I'd reach out to TM to see about a Forum Test/Review but after last summer's Rise and Fall articles I don't think they'd take my calls

If it makes you feel better they used to support unbiased testing, we just aren't getting along at the moment

I did not know that TM had 15% off for veterans--that is fantastic. The p770s look great too.

Those are great irons...I saw them first hand this week when our rep was in.   Beyond my paygrade...but awesome looking.

 

And yes, I had very much the same feeling with the Cobra One Length...they are still in my head.

That's good they give something to the vets. Something I did not know.

I will have to check into that.

One of the sales guys at the pro shop just got a set of these too.

I'm really intrigued by the P770 irons but no one around here has any to demo.  TM is coming to a demo day in a few weeks and I hope these are available (I'm sure they will be).  Very cool that they hook up veterans, too.

Bought mine without ever hitting them. Rebuilt them with new shafts and haven't even hit them yet

So, I got my P770s in yesterday, but now I have an issue. On a whim, I picked up some Titleist AP2 716s on Friday, and had them strengthened a degree to match the loft of the Taylormade's. I've hit them side by side on the range and they seem like mirror images of each other. They both feel great, have similar flight and performance, and both look terrific. The only difference I noticed was that I hit the AP2 long irons a little more consistent which gives them a slight edge. I have a difficult decision to make between these two set but I like them both better than my iBlades.

I'm waiting on new grips for mine I built. We're supposed to be here today but don't know what happened. They're late. The tour wrap 2g just aren't doing it for me

Taylormade also put a bit of bad taste in my mouth when they set the irons with the wrong shafts. I ordered them with the Dynamic Gold AMT shafts and they sent them with just the regular DG shafts. I have the AMT shafts in the AP2s and I'm wondering if that's why I'm getting better results from the long irons. I'm debating on whether I should call Taylormade and complain. The shipping build document even said it was supposed to have AMT shafts.

I'd call and get them to make it right. Course they've been hit too so they may have no recourse.

 

If it makes you feel any better (it won't I'm sure) guy in a group I'm in on FB has been sent an incorrect build on his Epic SubZero 4 times now.

... No need to complain, just let them know they screwed up your order. Taylor Made has outstanding customer service and I am sure they will make this right when you bring it to their attention. I am amazed at how many mistakes like this are made with special orders from all OEM's but the last thing TM wants is a "bad taste in your mouth". Instead they want to correct their error and expediently so your story will change to "TM took really good care of me". Never hurts to say you play their woods and wanted to try their irons.
