Brian A
A few questions on changing cleats. How often should you change them? Secondly if you havnt changed them and the 2 spike tool that meant to be used on them, just rips through the plastic, how do you get them out Driver: G425 9* Hzrdus Smoke Green Small batch 6.5 70g Fairway Wood: Cobra Radspeed Big 3 Hzrdus Smoke Black 6.5 Hybrid: Cobra Aerojet 5 Wood Hzrdus Smoke Black 6.5 Irons: T200 (4-AW) AMT Black Stiff Shafts Wedges: Tour Rack 56* 60* Putter: Scotty Cameron Golo 5 Right Handed Pittsburgh, PA
PlaidJacket
How often to change? I change mine when they are worn down. Perhaps twice a year. Maybe more if necessary. Only takes 10 minutes. I don' know what the 2 Spike tool is but I just a Ripper I think it's called. Looks like a driver adjusting tool but has a couple if Bits you can select from. Works for me. Brian A
Its this thing - http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/softspikes-cleatkaddy-for-golf-spikes-sp11cleatkaddy/sp11cleatkaddy?&color= Used on the CHAMP Zarma Tour SLIM-Lok Golf Spikes. You put the two little prongs in the holes and twist. The one that looks like a bunch of blade doesnt work, too big. PlaidJacket
That's the one I have. I thought it had a different name. Mine works great on any type of spikes. hckymeyer
I use that same tool with the ripper attachment. Haven't had any spikes I can't get out yet. I just change the spikes as needed when they are worn down. Which type of spikes do you have? Threads vs q-lok etc. If the threads are plastic you can try working them out with a needle nose pliers and a screw driver. You can also try soaking in water or spraying a little WD-40 in there and let it soak a couple minutes. MDGolfHacker
I change spikes as needed, but I change all of them at the same time on both shoes. I've actually had several spikes that just refuse to come out by regular means like wd-40 or by pliers. I've actually had to drill out the center of the spike (Gotta be careful with this) and then used the pliers to get the rest of the spike out. MDGolfHacker TSssWhat's In This Lefty's Bag? silver & black
If the tool wont get them out, I've used needle nose pliers. Just span the cleat between prongs, squeeze as hard as needed to keep them in place and turn.
tony@CIC
I change mine out once a season (they seem to last) but change all of them out at the same time. It's just easier to remember. Occasionally I can't get the tool in but find that if I clean out the two little holes it works just fine.. Kenny B
My wife brought her old shoes into our local golf shop to have the guys there change the spikes for her. The store owner took her shoes and threw them in the garbage can and said; "This is how we change those out." She bought a new pair of shoes. “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

dadivots
What spikes? I wear Truelinks. Yeah, spikes have become something of a pain at times. Truthfully I miss my steel spikes if not the foot pain. They were hell on the cartpaths and walk areas and murder to a Pete Dye railraod tie, but the greens and tees did quite well for them. RookieBlue7
You can make spikes easy to change and come right out by putting enough hot water in a dish/pan to submerge the soles and let them sit and soak for about 30 mins. They'll come right out after thatâ˜ï¸This method has also worked for me. Warming them up with a hair dryer is another trick that I've had success with. Pairing the tool tip to a drill on low speed/high torque makes quick work if you're changing multiple sets. The key to any of these methods is properly seating the tool into the metal disc beneath the plastic spike shell. On several occasions I ended up ripping the entire spike shell off for better access to the tool notches in the metal disc. Good luck, don't throw them in the trash yet.
