Favorite ball(s) ever

Not sure which model they were, but when my Dad was coaching golf and I was in college, he would send me Slazengers that the team voted on be used. They were a two-piece monster back when all of my buddies were playing balatas. I could hit them a mile and they were SO much better than the hard balls of the day like "Rock Flite" and "Molitor", etc. I loved them! They would have been released around 1990 or so.

First ball addiction was the Pro V1 Star. Loved that ball then the Callaway HX Red took over. Favorite of all time would be the Wilson Staff FG Tour. Unbelievable golf ball. Long and soft and very durable.

When I first started golfing my favorite golf ball was anything I could find on the course. Golf was and is expensive and I had no $$, so any free balls for me fine. These days, I am a better golfer and I have a job, so my current favorite is the Snell MTB, K-Sig's, and Srixon Z Star. I want to test the Q Stars as well.

I always liked the Taylormade TP Black ball. I have some new Wilson tours (the ones Barnes is playing right now) I've yet to try out. Lastly, the old strata balls with the swirl on them (like in the 90s when strata had Tour representation). I always found them and liked them. No idea why back then, but I did.

The early 2000's when I was single and had no kids I played a lot of golf, so my favorites are from that era. Maxfli A10 was the first ball I really got hooked on. Then Slazenger Player 90's and finally around 2006 or so, Pinnacle Exceptions.

I always was looking for a cost-conscious performer and those balls all met the criteria. I still have a couple dozen Player 90's and Exceptions, but only one A10 left in my stash.

Beat me to it. I LOVED that ball. Shot a lot of low scores. I believe that Fred Couples used that ball (or a variation) on Tour for quite a while.

I'd probably hate it today; current favs are Tour B330-RX and Srixon Z-Star.

I don't have a favorite ball right now, but I did stock up on 6 dozen 2017 Bridgestone B330-RX's, along with about 5 dozen of last year's B330-RX's and 5/6 dozen Pro V1's. My game isn't good enough to take advantage of what these tour caliber balls can offer but I figure if they don't roll too far off the green on an approach shot, I have a better chance of not making a big number. Haven't found that one magical ball that will make me a better ball striker :)

I truly believe that even if you don't have a fav ball, it's important to use the same ball.

I've been partial to the 'ProV1' feel for quite some time. But, I've become partial to the TM Project a and the MG C4 lately. Srixon Z star is right up there as well.

Good stuff and great prices. I've bought from them for years from balls to gloves to shirts.

Never any issues. Buddy bought a golf bag and the zipper began to separate after a month. They sent him a new one and he never had trouble again.

I tend to tinker a bit but have a thing for the Nike RZN Platinums at the moment.

These are the ones that have always stood out for me:

Nike Tour One D - overall great ball

Pro v1 2011 - unmatched on wedge shots

Callaway Chrome + - Very dependable control on greenside shots

Finally bit the bullet and purchased a dozen Snell golf balls to test. The driving range was empty so I did a side by side test with the Chrome Soft X, Taylormade TP5X,  and Titleist Pro V1X. On hit 3 of each ball with a 9 iron and 6 iron and then walked out on the range and collected the balls. I was hitting dead in to the wind today so it was an interesting test. What I found was a straighter ball flight from the Snell than any of the other balls and a few more yards distance. The 6 iron was about 5 yards longer. I'm normally a high spin player with my irons so I think these will play amazing in the wind. Then I hit a couple of balls from each brand with my driver and saw similar results. The Snell flew further and seemed to cut through the wind. Finally, I did some chipping and putting with each ball. I got the most spin from the Chromesoft X but the Snell was not far behind. The Pro V1X and the TP5X rolled out a bit more. Off the putter, the Snell felt the softest which I enjoyed. I just went in and ordered 6 dozen. I think I found my new favorite ball.

Used to love the Maxfli balata balls back in high school, but couldn't imagine playing them now.

Top choices for me are the Snell MTB and Taylormade TPx. Quickly closing the gap at the moment are the Kirkland Signature balls.

That Maxfli balata in the gold box was amazing back in the early 90s. So soft and spinny in the short game. I think they stopped producing them after an earthquake or fire destroyed the plant in Japan. I preferred that ball over the Titleist Professional by a mile. The Pro would get so lumpy after a couple decent whacks

This is a nostalgia vote but anyone remember the Robin Hood? Was smaller and allegedly longer than US specs. Every once in a while my dad would give me a couple and I hoarded them like a jealous lover. Was still a kid so couldn't hit them anywhere but felt like I could make putts from anywhere with that little thing

Wilson FG Tours will be here Friday just in time for Saturday's round (if the snow holds off). I am going to get a sleeve of the 17' Pro V1's, and test them head to head with the Wilsons and my current ProV1's (2015/2016)

Edit: I'm hoping the Wilson takes the spot in the bag. If not the 17' Pro V1/x either or.

Have to postpone my testing a few days. But rest assured I will put up some info ASAP. I also have a sleeve of Cut Blues to test with them, and I'm looking for a sleeve of Vice flamingo's or Pro's to go in the mix. Don't want to buy a whole box just yet.
