Specs
First I would like to say thank you for the opportunity to review these, it was a fun experience. Before getting into the details of these grips I will give some prospective on my grip preference and history. My last few grips have been GP Tour Velvet, Lamkin Crossline cords, Lamkin Crosslines, GP Dual Decade blue cords. I have really liked each of these grips and would recommend any of them to others. I generally prefer the Lamkin because they seem to last better than GP, but GP do feel a little better when new. Upon reviewing the Tacky-Mac's the first thing I noticed was how tacky they are. I wasn't sure if I would like tack but honestly I did. Anyway, on to the review... Look: I really think white grips are cool. I currently have Dual Decade white on a few clubs so the idea of all white sounded great. They are a nice clean white, with minimal markings and a black butt cap. If I had any negatives about the looks it would be the writing/ logo of Tacky-Mac. I think the font is a little "cheap" looking. It might sound silly but I have always thought fonts for logos have been underrated. If I was changing anything on the "Look" it would be the font.. I do like that that they have the writing Tacky-Mac on both the top and bottom of the grip (painted black on one side and white on the other). This is really cool in that I like to put my grips on with the logo down. With the Tacky-Mac's you can have the black logo down and white up. If you like looking at the more noticeable logo, play with the black up. Simple, yet a nice option/ look. Feel: I always buy regular standard size grips and build them up 1 extra wrap of tape (1 plus the double sided when done). I did this for the Tacky-Mac's as well. The first thing I noticed was that they felt big compared to my GP and my previous Crosslines. While this bothered me a little at first (I almost pulled the grips and took off the extra wrap) I ended up liking it. What I liked the most was that they taper MUCH less than the GP and Lamkins. For those of you who like to build up the right hand (for righties) these are great! Comparing them to my GP I MUCH preferred the shape of the grip. In addition to the shape is obviously the feel of the surface. While they match up closing to Tour Velvets and Crosslines they are a little different, primarily how much tacky/ sticky they are. As I said earlier I wasn't sure if I would like it. I ended up liking it very much. Sound: Sound is an interesting review for a grip but can be an impact. I have tried Winn grips in the past and honestly the only grips I have tried that really impacted sound. I didn't notice any difference in sound over my previous grips compared to the Tacky-Mac. Performance: For performance of a grip, does it slip is really the only thing I can think of. From this prospective the Tacky-Mac grips really deliver. They have a good feel and really stayed Tacky over the few hour long practice session I did as well as the 3 rounds of Golf. The weather was hot and humid so a pretty good judge of performance. I never felt like my grip would slip even with 105 plus humidity (you have to love the Midwest).. So, the only thing missing to truly test the performance is rain, I didn't get a chance to try that out. Honestly, I didn't want to play in the rain anyway. OVERALL: In conclusion, I really liked these grips. I'm VERY particular with my equipment and I don't change things all that much. Honestly I was convinced the old grips would go right back on after the review. After playing them I'm not planning on changing back (leaving on the Tacky-Mac's). The biggest surprise from a positive prospective is the lack of taper (loved the constant taper of these) and the tackiness. These really where nice feeling grips. The biggest negative and what will ultimately lead me to changing grips is how dirty these get. White grips are going to get dirty, no real way around that. They recommend you wash them with soap and water after play. I tried this and they still look a little dirty, not unplayable messy dirty but noticeable. If I was buying these I would stick with black or maybe the red or blue, staying away from the white. Not because I don't think they look good but just that they get too dirty... Anyway, nice product Tacky-Mac, thanks for letting me review them.. If someone can walk me through how to attach my pictures that would be great.. I have .JPG files on my PC but can't attach them as I would expect.. KWheels
kingwood hacker
These are made pretty much right in my back yard in the north Houston area and when I needed a new grip for my driver at the beginning of this season, I decided to try one out. I loved it this spring when the weather wasn't as hot and humid. This summer when the sweat comes out, it's really hard to keep these things tacky and not slippery. Specs is right about them not staying white for long too. I clean them once a week, and they have kind of a dingy grey look now. My irons have the multi-compound white dual decade grips and I think I'm about to put one on my driver as well.
SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave Posted August 2, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted August 2, 2010 If you keep them on, I am curious how they wear for you. I had a set of red ones that started to show finger marks and rough areas after a couple of months. I know that I squeeze the life out of grips too though... cheymike
Nothing that is white and used in sports stays white for long! •Never argue with an idiot. First, he will drag you down to his level. Then he will beat you with experience!•

Justin66
If you keep them on, I am curious how they wear for you. I had a set of red ones that started to show finger marks and rough areas after a couple of months. I know that I squeeze the life out of grips too though... I had that problem, as well. I have the white Itomics (didn't do this testing thing, though). I have a slightly firmer grip, like a 7-7.5 on a scale of 1-10, and mine started showing wear in the spots where my left thumb (I'm a lefty) and forefingers are. I also noticed that it gets a harder and harder to keep the white clean; sometimes in "high traffic areas" near impossible. I do think that having the Itomics made in the US is pretty sweet, though. Call me a homer, but that's always a plus.
