If they're gonna allow them with the hopes of speeding up play then they should allow the slope function and any other tech the range finder makers can create.

DaveP nailed it. They'll now have multiple sources and when they don't match up perfectly, it will only slow play down while they talk about it.
There is no spoon.

Doubt this will speed up play at all since they are still going to use a yardage book.  Most pros use them in practice rounds and Pro Ams and they still go through their normal process of getting a yardage.  Most pros are not one number players and want to know front, pin and back on most holes.  The only area that it may speed up play is on wayward shots where getting a yardage is a bit more difficult.

Maybe allow them to drive carts as well?

I think not - for what the winners and runners up make it needs to be as challenging as possible.

Oh great!!  Now the hackers see Rickie Fowler using a laser in a tournament, and so they have to have one too, even though they can't hit the number within 20 yards.  I see longer rounds in my future.

Anyone have the Srixon Z565 or Z765 driver in play? Thinking of moving to the Srixon from my Titleist and was wondering what everyone's opinion was.
