Hogan Not Dead Yet

Recommended Posts

Thanks to undershooter for finding this one...

hogan 1.jpg

Ben Hogan's website is back up -- sort of.  Seems like the old boy isn't dead yet.

Just swapped texts with Hogan CEO Scott White - he says the website is back up so Hogan can continue to sell clubs direct to consumers.

"The phone has been ringing off the hook by "serious golfers" who are just now realizing our situation and want to buy clubs," White told me.

"We're trying to raise short-term operating funds via the sale of existing inventory, while attracting new, long-term investors simultaneously. It's a challenge!"

White says it's still he company's intention to emerge from its voluntary Chapter 11 bankruptcy as a leaner, more efficient and profitable entity.  To that end Hogan has moved into a much smaller space - Callaway's old Tour Shop offices - and they're making clubs daily.

If you go to benhogangolf.com, most of the website is functional, but importantly the "Buy Now" function is inoperative. White says that's because the Buy Now function is tied to its old system, which they're no longer using.

If you want to order clubs, it'll need to be either by phone (844-52-HOGAN) or via email -- [email protected]

There's still a pulse - maybe no much of one, but it's a pulse.

No matter the form of their business model moving forward, I really hope Hogan is able to keep the doors open.

Glad I could be of some service.

And yes the buy now function is tied to their old credit card processing system which is no longer active.

Once I got the PTx irons reshafted a few weeks back they've been my gamers. Hogan makes some great clubs. Maybe they just need to stay very small until they are making some money. Then grow very slowly when necessary.

Very good news and hope for the best from Hogan.  Still say the Ft. Worth 15s were some of the best irons I have played in a long time.  Maybe if I get some practice time this year they will find their way back into my bag.

I wish my 8-pw of the PTx were the ft worth 15s instead. Those things are sweet looking.

I don't guess you know the topline/footprint difference off the top of your head do you?

I don't. I have not spent much time with the PTX irons. You would not be disappointed in the Ft Worths.

I've played my S57's for 7-8 years now.  My intentions were to go the Ft. Worth route this year.  New baby, general "life finances" etc. make it tough.  But knowing they are still putting out clubs gives me refreshed motivation.  I'm rooting for these guys.  American made quality sticks are a unicorn.

Enjoy them. Very solid set of irons. The long irons are a bit tough (for me anyway) to hit but the Hi version corrected that. Also a solid price and well below retail.

As a solid 18 Hcap, should I go for the Ft Worth's or the Ptx?

I have a set of PTx irons Foz - nice forged iron and reasonably forgiving -- more forgiving than the Ft Worth 15's. Played some of my best golf last year with them...

oh man, such a good deal. I guess it comes down to if you like blades or CBs better. The blades look awesome and I have read that they are relatively forgiving compared to other blades. I have the TK-15 wedges which have a similar look to the Ft Worths and can tell you they are really nice soft feeling clubs and forgiving compared to say your typical Cleveland or Vokey wedge. I haven't had a chance to hit the irons but if they are similar to their wedges I can extrapolate that they would be some nice sticks. Guessing the PTx are a more forgiving version but I remember reading an interview from Terry Koehler that he thought everyone should play blades...so I guess it depends on what philosophy you adhere to. Probably can't go wrong with either.
