Liberty Ball Markers 1,251
2-3 rounds is the max that I've been able to keep one from either going missing, or drowning... My old vokey sm4's were shredders (sharpened for years) - 1 round would kill a urethane ball. My new sm6's are a lot nicer to my ball, and let it suffer a worse fate in due time. BIG STU 9,623
For me I beat them all to crap. I play older wedges so I do not shred them too bad. I usually play them until they get dull and then I play them in my vintage walking rounds. I played a Bridgestone Treo Soft last year 96 holes when I was on vacation. Very rarely do I lose a ball. But I did lose one today after 15 holes. In the old days if you hit the ball decent you were lucky to get 3 or 4 holes out of a Balata ball without it going out of round or cutting it 2 Quote Driver ---- Honma G1_X Stock tuned Honma R shaft---- 3 wood TM V-Steel Aldila 65G R Flex 15*--- 7 Wood TM V-Steel UST Pro Force 65 R flex 21*---- 9 wood TM V-Steel stock MAS Stiff shaft 24*--- Irons 5 thru 9 1980 Mac VIP Hogan Apex #2 shaft---PW Hogan TK-15 50* KBS Wedge Shaft---- SW Callaway PM 56 modified grind 8* KBS Wedge shaft---- Putter 1997 Rusty Scotty Santa Fe Bullseye fluted shaft--- Bag Old School Jones Classic non stand
Shankster 31,466
If it's still white, and has the cover on it. I played the Taylormade RBZ Urethane all last year. They last a good bit compared to ProV's. Not a "premium" ball but they held greens and gave a bit of distance off the tee. And at $5 a dozen, couldn't beat the price. I was practicing yesterday and took the cover off a ProV1x with a 56°. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
chisag 17,583
... 2 rounds with one ball is mx for me, an if it is slightly scuffed or groove challenged at all it gets one round. But normally I like to start every round with a new ball. 2 Quote Driver: SIM2 Max 10.5* ... AD-MT SR Fairway: SIM2 Max 15/16.5/18* ... Tensei Raw Blue 65R Utility: UDi 18* ... tony@CIC 21,971
So I surmise if the cover is intact and there are no scuff marks you're good to go! MDGolfHacker 7,658
I played four rounds this weekend. I got through 2 rounds with one Bridgestone B330RX. That ball hit about 25 trees (yeah, I didn't play well at all) and it was still pretty good to use. Only retired it when I hit a great wedge shot and cut the ball. The two courses were open but I managed to find every low lying limb, every twig of a branch and I'm pretty sure I took out a squirrel in a tree as well, LOL ... Kor.A.Door 5,843
Ive used some chrome softs for 4-5 rounds, the cover is a bit worn and it may have some tree sap or road rash on it, but it still plays. You can use a ball for as long as you want. Does it perform as well as new, not really, but It's not like I lose 20 yards, the difference is more likely to be lost spin control. Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy This is a great topic, love talking about ball quality. I personally say that I will use the same ball for as long as I can. I've played with "tour" type balls for an entire tournament round before, just depends on how scuffed it gets. I will also play with one for more then one round in casual golf if I don't hit an errant tee shot and lose it. Golf balls have a significant $$$ value and I like to keep my money in play for as long as I can haha. dang3rtown 967
I typically game the ProV1X and I have to say, after 3 or 4 holes, it is not the same ball. I'm happy to keep using it for a few rounds (if I don't lose it!) but I notice scuff marks and differences in feel almost immediately. Note, I think I'm just rough on balls. I've noticed this with every premium ball I've ever played. 1 Quote Driver: G 10.5* W/Tour Stiff 65g Ping Shaft Fairway Woods: Cobra F6 13.5*, F6 Baffler 16* Irons: Split Set- i200 3i - 7i , Ft Worth 15s, 8 (36), 9 (40), PW (44) Wedges: TK, 52* & 56* Putter: Sigma G Kushin Bag: Hoofer 5way Balls: TP5/X
HighFade 1,237
I don't know that I've gotten more than 2 rounds before it got lost or torn up. But that's 70-80 full shots. Texas2cap 61
I've gone 500 holes with the srixon z star vx tour yellow. It lost about 10 yards after about 150-180 holes. Then it was the same until I took it out of play.
dru_ 283
I playtime Callaway Chrome Soft Truvis a good bit, and find that if I stay off the cart paths, they'll hold up for about 6-10 rounds, however, I almost never take more than a 3/4 swing with anything inside of 150 yards, and inside of 75, nothing longer than a 1/2 swing. Very rarely am I putting a huge amount of stress on the covers on those shorter shots. Truth be told, these days, I probably only play 6-10 full swings in a given round, so the stress on the balls is really fairly minimal. 1 Quote Dru - Owner, President & Janitor, Druware Software Designs RH 18.0 Handicap in soggy Georgia WITB * 1W 10.5* @ Hogan GS53 ( HZRDUS Smoke Black X-Stiff ) * 3W Hogan GS52 ( HZRDUS Smoke Black X-Stiff ) * 5W 18* Tailor-made AeroBurner ( Stock Stiff ) * 4I-AW @ Hogan Ft Worth * 56 @ Cleveland RTX * 60 @ Hogan Equalizer * Carbon Ringo 1/4 * Snell MTB-X

Texas2cap 61
So there are no trees, water, hills, or long grass near you? Arizona? This was when I lived in northern California. My home course was Bailey Creek. There was water and plenty of trees. I was just a decent golfer back then.
