newballcoach
I would think that Odyssey and Scotty Cameron would still have more tour usage though. Anybody know any stats to verify that? I think they are popular right now because two of the top guys (DJ and JD) are using them, as well as Jon Rahm who is the hot rookie right now. It's interesting to consider that none of them are considered really strong putters. If the spider is helping them, it would obviously have some interest to the average golfer who isn't going to putt well with a tour blade. Jay_nick1
I got one because of the hype, and truly noticed a difference from my Scotty Newport. It maybe the help with my confidence level as well, the ball rolls nice and easy off the face. They are also popping up on the LPGA tour. Rphall003
I was about to start a thread but I noticed this one and I'll mention it here...I was noticing that the spider red is the one most used on tour and very few if any are gaming the black. Quite the opposite of what I might have thought since the black has an 80/20 insert where the red has a surlyn insert. Any thoughts? Shankster
My opinion is: Red is different and more noticeable. Plus they have more options for it on their website. The black was sold out for a bit. That has nothing to do with Tour Usage, but you see what I mean. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy
Rphall003
A bit sure but in the same sense is the color of the putter that high of a priority that you would completely disregard the feel and sound of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm down with having a sweet looking conversation piece that everyone wants to try but I also want it to perform. Maybe I should try the red, see what the fuss is about!! May be the best thing I've ever felt!! I know the black is. 03trdblack
Ever since TM came out with the original AGSI+ Titallium insert I've always maintained they put one of the best rolls on the golf ball when putting. They were one of the first to go all in with the grooves as a major manufacturer but really weren't taken as serious as others were. It just amazes me how the spider has come full circle after being on the market for so long. My bag is a revolving door!
ridgewalker
I've definitely grown to like it after trying it at the golf store a few times. Last time I was there it was the first putter I picked up and I rolled in a nice 25 footer. If I was a very wealthy man I'd pick up one, (along with an Evnroll ER1, and a Juno.)
