Testers Wanted! Toura Golf Irons Build Test! ×

Wanted to put something out there for those that use Arccos for tracking that I've experienced while using a 1st generation system and Android. I installed the product and used it in one round, where it caught 80% of the shots I took and required me to manually input the rest. I didn't think too much of it, because I was playing in January in heavier pants and thought there was some interference.

As we had a mild winter here in Ohio I've played 8 rounds since in varying different attire including thin golf shorts, dress pants, casual shorts etc to test the system out. I have experienced nothing but system failure in my attempts to use it that ranged from missing a shot or two here and there, to showing me driving the ball 600yds and 4 putting the 2nd green while still on the 1st. I thought for sure I was doing something wrong so I ventured to the site and looked at their how to's and FAQ. Here's what I made sure I did: phone left front pocket, carry clubs sensor down until ready to hit, repaired sensors, checked battery life etc.

Went out this past weekend and it detected my drive off the first tee and then didn't detect another shot until the 3rd hole.   So I emailed Arccos to see if there were issues etc and here's what I was told:

Hi Josh,

Thank you for reaching out to the Arccos Golf Team. Yes, there are a few ongoing issues reported with certain Android devices. However, we do have an expert team of Android developers who are diligently investigating all aspects of the app coding to improve its abilities. A new app release will be made available very soon in the Google Play Store. The team spent all last week in Florida to test variations of the Android app, and are pleased with their findings. We apologize for the temporary limitation with Android, but will continue with improved app releases!

We do recommend resetting the sensors that you have purchased second-hand. Here are the steps to reset the sensors:

Remove the battery and reset the sensor. Here is a link to a video on how to remove the cover and access the battery. Once you have removed the battery, flip the sensor upside down (sensor screw pointing down), and press and hold the button down for 5 seconds. (No need to replace the rubber cap to press the sensor button.) Then replace the battery and repeat the pairing process.

If you have further questions, our number is (844)MY-ARCCOS (844) 692-7226. Our phone lines are open Monday-Friday 11:00 am to 5:00 pm EST. Or feel free to visit our support website

Have a wonderful day!!

So if anyone is having issues with Arccos and using Android they are aware of the issues and are working towards a fix.

Well there's your issue... The Arccos team is in Florida playing golf instead of fixing the app! ;) Just kidding. Noticed that on newer versions of the Android OS, the Bluetooth signal seems weaker. I had upgraded my phone to a new LG V10 last year and my bluetooth headphones seemed to cut in and out when I left my phone in my bag. Thought it might be the ear buds so I purchased two other ear bids and the same thing. The only way for me to not get the dropped signal is to have my phone in my shirt pocket (which never happens). My previous LG phone didn't have that problem to the point I could walk 30 or 40 ft away and still be connected (worked great on the practice putting surfaces). I wonder if the Arccos system is having the same issue...

Biggest issue that I've had with the Arccos system is that it chews through my battery.

Other than that, I've had decent sensor behavior.  No strikes missed.  If I bring a few clubs out of the bag, it will occasionally pick up a "hit" where there was none.

My biggest gripe is the inability to share full rounds with anyone.  It seems like Game Golf kind of nailed that aspect.

In general, I'm really happy with Arccos - especially now that I bring a battery pack with me.

  • 3 weeks later...

I think this might be device specific.  I have a Pixel XL and for my first league 9 holes, the system worked great.  Outside of tap in putts, it didn't miss a single shot for me.   I also put new batteries in just before the round for this season.  I go the old guy route and use a push cart.  So, I never had an issue where I had more than one club in my hands at a time.   I had some of the issues that you spoke of with my LG G4 last season and I stopped using the system.   However, I bought the Gen 1 Arccos second hand.  So I wasn't sure on the battery life, etc.   Overall, I wasn't expecting much from the Arccos Gen 1 for this season and was actually thinking of selling it.   After this first round, I am happy and going to hang on to it for this season.   The only thing it's still missing is integration with Android wear.   If it worked with my Android watch, I would be very happy.
